Brilliantly addictiveโlike Cluedo met Sudoku with a twist
First impressions: A crisp paperback with 384 pages of charming black-and-white illustrations, maps, codes, and quirky suspectsโevery page beckons you to dive in and solve. It presents the vibe of a detectiveโs case file rather than a traditional puzzle book. Puzzle design & format: Each of the 100 puzzles invites you to channel your inner Poirot, figuring out who-done-it โ the culprit, the weapon, the location โ using deduction grids and clever logic hints. The difficulty levels span from easy to โimpossible,โ ensuring that both beginners and seasoned sleuths stay hooked. What makes it stand out: What I really love about Murdle is how it blends puzzle-solving with storytelling. Itโs not just a bunch of logic gridsโit actually has a light narrative running through it, with recurring characters like Deductive Logico and Inspector Irratino that give it a fun, almost theatrical feel. The variety in difficulty is great tooโsome puzzles are quick wins, others really make you slow down and think. Itโs so satisfying when everything clicks into place. Thereโs also a real charm to the presentation. The illustrations, the maps, the gridsโthey all make it feel like youโre solving a case rather than just doing a brainteaser. Itโs smart, but never pretentious, and I found myself totally hooked. What I loved: Addictive variety - The four difficulty tiers keep things fresh. Story continuity - There's a loose overarching narrative featuring Deductive Logico and Inspector Irratino, tying puzzles together Accessible logic - Fair-play puzzles that reward careful deductionโnot brute force. Minor niggles: Some puzzles require assumption-testingโwith occasional backtracking instead of pure deduction. If you're a pure-logician, this might feel slightly offโbut it's a minor quibble in an otherwise polished puzzle experience. Overall verdict: Murdle isnโt just a bookโitโs an experience. A delightful hybrid of Cluedo, Sudoku, and narrative mystery, this stands out as the ideal gift for puzzle lovers, fans of crime fiction, and anyone craving a brain-teasing, page-turning challenge. Itโs smart, quirky, and thoroughly engaging. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Add it to your cart, pencil at the ready.

great fun away from screens
Got it for a long flight as non screen entertainment and it was great. The puzzles get a bit more difficult as you progress and the story is fun to follow.

Great if you enjoy logic problem style puzzles
A modern take on the original 'Logic Problem' puzzles. There are 100 puzzles plus a final puzzle that can only be solved after all the others have been completed. There is a story running through linking the puzzles to keep it interesting, but the names, locations, items become very repetitive after a while.

Challenging, unique, and perfect for puzzle lovers.
As someone who enjoys brain teasers like sudoku and crosswords, I was intrigued by the novelty of Murdle. I wasnโt sure how challenging it would be, but it turns out these puzzles are delightfully tricky yet rewarding to solve. The book includes 100 puzzles with varying difficulty levels and provides a thorough explanation of how to tackle each one. The characters and backstories are hilarious, reminiscent of Cluedo, with suspects, clues, and settings adding to the fun. Pros: โข 100 puzzles ranging from challenging to fiendishly difficult. โข Clear instructions make it approachable for newcomers. โข Entertaining characters and storylines add to the experience. โข Includes hints and solutions for when you get stuck. โข Makes a fantastic gift for puzzle enthusiasts. Cons: โข Not for those looking for quick or simple puzzlesโthese require focus and time. โข Some puzzles might feel intimidating for beginners, despite the explanations.

If you are Logic puzzle person- this is not a value!
Okay- so maybe someone will read this and save their time and money-- If you are a logic puzzle fan and enjoy a challenge only the last 50 puzzles are worth any time. This book has 25 puzzles that aren't a puzzle- literally read the clues and there's the answer, no thinking required. Next 25 add an element which I liked- 3 of the 4 clues are true, 1 is false - problem though for these 25 puzzles were still quite simple if you've ever done logic puzzles. The next 25 finally get the thinking part of the brain going. The final 25 brings back the 3 are true, 1 is a lie - plus some serious thinking to solve at times. So basically you get 50 puzzles and 50 waste of time don't bother as there is no challenge things [not really a puzzle]. Added to this, if you like logic puzzles- the clipart used will drive you NUTS!!!! You would think for a book that is a best seller and multiple in the series they'd spend money and get better clipart that matches what they are describing. No, instead they use only a few cliparts, repeating them over and over but for different meanings and a number of times not making sense at all. Now a thing I despise, but this could just be me, is this constant referencing to a page for clues etc- such as a map or astrological symbols, etc. While that's unique- it's really annoying when you have to flip back 50 pages to find this single bit of info. I mean it's a logic puzzle, not an actual storybook murder mystery. Which leads me to another thing... I get the author is trying to make a fun story, but PLEASE expand your characters and if they commit a murder, they shouldn't be in any more murder puzzles if the main character is a detective because then you are saying he couldn't get them arrested and convicted and they just turned out to be serial killers. Overall is the book bad- no. But it isn't meant for the logic puzzle diehards like myself. And if you are like me, just move on [or if you can find it used for much less, then last 25 puzzles are worth spending some money on]. I'll be passing on all the rest of the series.

Murdle: Volume 1 is such a clever and addictive collection of puzzles. It feels like solving a mystery, a logic grid, and a game of Clue all at the same time, and I love that I get to play detective instead of just reading about one. The puzzles start out approachable and then gradually get trickier, which makes it easy to warm up and then really sink your teeth into the harder cases. The tone is light and playful, with quirky characters and fun little details that keep each mystery from feeling the same as the last. I especially appreciate that I can pick it up for a quick puzzle or spend longer working through a tougher one, so it fits into whatever kind of day Iโm having. If you enjoy logic puzzles, brain teasers, or classic whodunits, this is a fantastic and satisfying way to keep your brain busy. Iโm already planning to grab the next volume.
