Bonus Features: La Luna/ The Leged Of Mordu/ Audio Commentary Review: Brave Disney Animation - I got this for my grandson having seen some of the trailers and reviews and not being able to get to the cinema, We both enjoyed it, I thought the animation was superb and the story line had elements of the old fashion fairy tales we used to read, had lots of humour, some of it slightly naughty, but at the right level, some scary bits and some weepy bits, a really good mixture, also loved the fact that it was set in my native country and not to honey coated...there are quite a few Scottish words which some might not understand fully, but that is part of the fun. I gave it 5 stars as I honestly thought it was one of the best tales I've seen in a long time. I have no doubt it will be watched time and again... My grandson really enjoyed it but I think I enjoyed it even more... The voices were outstandingly good and the animation was extraordinary. It avoids all that cloying gooiness that often spoils animations. There is always a bit of sentimentality in films like this but nothing I couldn't handle. All the elements of the story set in some idealised medieval period came together in a way that suspended disbelief. The colours and textures are as vivid as anything I've ever seen in an animation and the animals have a sinuous living quality. The music was good and the story had some of the darkness of a real fairy tale. The central character Merida is a good strong heroine to counterbalance all that Barbie crap that little girls have to contend with. The little brothers didn't appeal so much because they were too cute. I bought it for my sister's 9 year old but I haven't heard how she liked it yet.
