LaCie 4TB Mobile Drive | USB-C (STLP4000400)

I’ve been using LaCie drives for years and this 1TB version is a really solid option. It’s slim, lightweight, and has a nice premium feel, plus it comes plastic-free with a USB-C cable included. I use it for backing up wedding work while editing, and I find the 1TB size much easier to organise and manage compared to larger drives. Transfer speeds are good for moving large batches of photos and video, and it’s been reliable so far. It’s also a great choice for general use like backing up family photos or important files. The option for automatic backups, along with the included warranty and data recovery services, adds extra peace of mind.

Excellent hard drive and the USB C means no fiddling around connecting to it. Nice design and so far haven't had any failures with the brand over the years.

Works beautifully on MacOS 15.5 but reformatted anyway to a different file system. This drive actually seems to contain an HDD rather than SDD, its presentation and text doesn’t really make that clear but still a good unit. Design is beautiful, function, speed and heat are all acceptable and price is good for a nicely designed drive. Why did you choose this product over others?: LaCie brand and design

The drive is perfect for backups and with the 5Tb capacity there is plenty of room for Time Machine backups and extra data storage. I personally partitioned 2Tb for Time Machine and 3Tb for data storage which is perfect for my use. This is not an SSD so don't expect lightning performance but for normal backups and data storage usage that is in a small package its fine. Plus it look nice.

Every time I buy a LaCie drive - and I've bought a few over the years - something goes wrong. They really are the most unreliable drives I've ever used. In the past it's always been the power supply on desktop drives that failed. I'd given up buying them, as they were more expensive than drives not so 'designed for Macs'. Then this portable one caught my eye. All was well, it seemed the curse was lifted. That is, until after the return date expired. Now it's developed a habit of disconnecting from my Mac Mini unexpectedly. It also takes a lot longer than my other connected drives (some with larger capacity) to mount. Disk Utility doesn't even see it on those occassions, Very disappointed, but I should have known better.

So far so good. It's a normal spinning hard drive. It works. It looks nice and is a good alternative to overpriced SSDs (Thanks to the current AI Data Centers craze!).

Produit parfait, rien à dire. Au debut, comme probablement beaucoup d'entre nous, je me suis dit 'j'acheté le moins cher' (produit chinois, 30 balles sur Amazon). Mais, au bout d'une journée, mes données n'étaient pas encore copiées... Du coup je l'ai renvoyé. Et là, avec ce disque dur, zéro problèmes. Petit, rapide et solide. Je conseille. Nos données sont importantes, il ne faut pas le confier à n'importe quel disque dur !

Articles neufs reçus dans leur emballages d'origine fermés comme à la sorti d'un magasin. Disques durs fidèles à la marque, pour ceux qui pleurent par rapport à la capacité de stockage, sachez que c'est normal d'avoir 4.54To au lieu de 5To c'est comme ça et c'est valable pour tous les disques. Il y a toujours une perte alors ce n'est pas la peine de se plaindre pour rien sauf si celle-ci est excessive bien sûr mais à l'origine la différence augmente en fonction de la capacité. Plus le disque est volumineux plus la perte sera importante. Bref c'était pour info. Ils fonctionnent très bien, dommage que je n'ai pas les 130Mo/s en transfert mais bon c'est pas la fin du monde. Même à 40Mo/s j'ai pu transférer mes quasi 10To en quelques jours. N'oubliez pas que c'est un disque dur pas un SSD alors soyez indulgent. L'important c'est qu'ils fonctionnent dans la durée et qu'ils stockent sans encombres. Je les ai eu à 155€ l'unité, prix qui a monté tout de suite après mon deuxième achat à...188€ Profitez quand les prix sont bas. Je recommande c'est du bon matos
