No it's not slippery - I have mine on wooden floors and it's never been a problem. And yes it's soft and will absorb a shock if baby isn't sitting very confidently yet. I use it as a playmat in my little boy's room and he loves it.

This looks grey and cream, is that the colours?

Yes, more grey and a pale cream/ivory. Looks very classy. We had them down on our tiled floor when our baby was learning to crawl and walk and everyone commented on how nice they looked. Point of note: very slippery when wet so not safe for bathrooms!
