Bigjigs Toys FSC Certified Activity Cube

Gave this to my 12 month old for Christmas and he loves it. Perfect size. Not to small or to big.

The wooden activity cube from Bigjigs arrived in a nicely branded cardboard presentation box which would be ideal for gifting the toy in. The activity cube is held in place with a cardboard skeleton and the accessories are carefully wrapped in tissue paper and secured with a piece of paper tape, so the packaging is totally plastic free. I thought that the presentation was good and it didn’t arrive with any scuffs to the painted surfaces. The activity cube does have the option of attaching the abacus on top with the screws provided but personally I will be keeping it loose as then you have the option to flip the abacus over, making storing the toy much more compact / neat. When the abacus is on top the cube has a footprint of 22cm x 22cm with an overall height of 37.5cm so this is quite a sizeable toy. The set also includes the five wooden blocks for the shape sorter area of the activity cube. The cube includes plenty of items to move around / slot through which move smoothly and overall is a very aesthetically pleasing object. It is made completely from FSC certified wood and the objects are painted in colourful soft unisex colours which are very tactile without any sharp edges that could be harmful. The pieces are also large enough to not be a choking hazard and I’m pleased to say the toy came with the appropriate safety marks on the box. The interactive activity cube is ideal for children older than 12 months and has a gender-neutral theme so would suitable for both girls and boys. It is a great educational toy both for motor, coordination and sensory skills when younger (from 12 months) and as an educational learning aid as it helps with colour, shape, letter and number recognition too in addition to hand – eye coordination. Priced at £64.99 at the time of reviewing, this is a little steep considering it is just a toy but I would hasten to add it is lovely quality and is a great educational tool. The box and various components are well made and finished and there is plenty to occupied your little one with. It has the added bonus of being very aesthetically pleasing too which makes it ideal for a 1st birthday gift – I would definitely recommend.

The Bigjigs Toys Wooden Activity Cube is a beautiful toy that has lots to keep babies and toddlers busy. The toy is made entirely from wood and has a smooth finish making it a safe texture for little hands and it feels durable and strong too. There are a range of activities for children including: A bead frame: this is always a popular toy with young children and good for fine motor skills. It's great that it can be taken off like a lid and turned around so that it is easier to store the toy cube. Follow the pattern: these are fun as we get to see the animal go from one side of the pattern to the other with some paths being trickier than others for baby. Another great option for fine motor skills. ABC/123, Abacus and Animal Doors: this is a really fun side to the toy and great for toddlers to learn some letters, numbers and counting. The animal doors are a favourite as it's a fun surprise to see who's behind. Mirror and Cog Board: these are a lot of fun and it's nice for baby to see themselves in the mirror as that's always fascinating to them. The cogs are great for toddlers to see the cause and effect of them moving one cog and how it effects the others. Shape Sorter: this is a great side for belong children recognise shapes and work on hand eye coordination. It's a shame there's no rectangle as the difference between a square and a rectangle is a struggle a lot of young children have but it is nice to have wooden shapes as I was expecting them to be silicone like the other bigjigs toys we have. Overall I am very impressed with this toy and I think it's the best quality activity cube I've seen. It is perfect for babies to enjoy and learn from as they grow. It is quite expensive for what it is but I think with its durability and timeless design it is the kind of toy that would be passed down to other children in the family so it is worth it. I'd highly recommend this toy.

The activity cube came packaged really nice and compact. The cube stores away the shapes and the bead maze flips over and makes the top of the cube flat. There is a great range of a activities to choose from with stimulating activities for babies, todlers and children. The different activities are easy to use and move really smoothly. There is a great range of fine motor activities to choose from, such as ; turning cogs, mazes, spinning cubes, opening doors and fitting shapes into holes. The activity board is a great quality and sterdy. The cube is a really good size for the different activities provided and when the top is stored away, could be used as a small table top.
