UK Electrical Key Lockable Twin Plug Socket Protector Covers (Single), Off-White, DO-61000

I bought this to cover a socket next to a cot. This is the third socket cover I bought and tried. My experience is outlined below. The first cover I tried was the cheapest available at approx £7. It was very easy to separate the two halves and access the plugs. There were also large exposed holes for the cables and I didn't feel confident small hands wouldn't wrestle it from the wall or poke around with the wires. The second cover I tried was approx £12. It was a better design in that it covered the wiring more securely, but again it was fairly easy to separate the two halves without much effort, and it also wouldn't close shut. My house was built around 10 years ago and I have standard sockets that you see in most modern houses. I initially thought the cost of this Socketsafe cover was too high, however having tried 3 out now, I would say this one is worth the extra few pounds above the others. It fits much more securely over the plug socket, with a sturdy and reassuring click. An adult would struggle to wrestle this off the wall. It comes with two plastic keys, which aren't very smooth to use to be honest, but they do function as intended and adding a more complex mechanism would undoubtedly bump up the price. If you're not going to be opening the cover multiple times a day then they work just fine. There are cable clips which cover the area the cable comes out of well, and they even include some new socket screws which I appreciated as I found one of the screws had been damaged, presumably when the socket was installed. If you're buying a socket cover for any sort of serious safety reason, I believe this is one of the best available on Amazon and I wouldn't waste your time with the cheaper alternatives. If the purpose is simply to prevent accidentally switching off an appliance, then something cheaper would probably work fine.

Took less than a minute to install, fits perfectly. The same as used in hospitals and other places. True quality at a great price, safe enough for my rambunctious seven year old who tries to disconnect everything constantly 😂

I am very glad I came across this product. It is a lifesaver when you have young children around who is fascinated with plug sockets. It was very easy to installed. It took me under 2 minuets to install. The product is stronger then I thought it would be. My 2 year old is very destructive and even he hasn’t been able to damage it not even a scratch on it. It has been bumped and god knows what else as right by the front door and it is still going strong. It has very nice cable clips to keep the cable nice a snug into the cover. Which I think is a very nice touch. The design is very slik. There is a couple bad points. It only fits normal size plugs (as pictured) It is a bit fiddly unlocking the cover and feels like the key is going to break when trying to unlocking it.

Very good brought for a dementia person to stop her turning sockets off .did the job very pleased

I brought this to prevent my 2 year old from unplugging his camera in his room The fitting is easy and well to prevent little fingers in plug sockets however my lad managed to pull the wire of the plug there forever causing it to become loose so I’m having to unlock the box more times then I care to admit 🙄

Fantastic product, we have a plug socket on the wall that a bed is against, I don’t want children using the plug socket due to it being a fire hazard, they always use it anyway and now they can’t. Does exactly what I want it to.

Brilliant for safety.

It's easy to fit but a bit tricky to use. I had to email the company as couldn't get it to open, they replied quickly. Seems to have eased off a bit since being used by carers daily. Keeps plugs safe from my mum who has dementia resulting on a few mishaps with the microwave. Only fits basic plugs though, couldn't get phone base charger plug or router plug to fit as it stops the cover closing.
