Excellent
Great for bringing your knifes edge back after it’s starting to feel dull, it’s a much higher grit then a regular steel which is better for the edge of your knife, my only issue is I wish they made a 14 inch model as oppose to the 12

Do not buy this item, especially from Cotellio Italy as they offer no help!
Terrible, rod came apart from holder, waited over a month on delivery from Cotellio store Italy and communication was non existent! The stick was clearly used but didn't want hassle of sending back! First use the ceramic coating came away and chipped!! Questionable authenticity! Very very poor product! If this is DMT trying their hand at ceramic then stick to what you do best, the diamond rods are second to none. I have them now instead! Ceramic was binned long ago...

Absolutely crap .
In less than a week the ceramic has rubbed off . It must be a manufacturing problem I’ve had many different steels my last ceramic broke so that what made me fancy an unbreakable one . Bad call aluminium core is completely exposed to the point now I can no longer use it on the line. Waste of money also a waste of my time I will be requesting a refund as I know this has happened to others. Will last years my yeh okay

Really good keeping the knives sharp.

I am a sucker for re-curve blade shapes and something like this is basically a requisite to owning knives with those blade shapes. I especially like that it is a little bit longer than other "steels" I have. It makes wicked sharp edges easy and I think rods like this are just much more convenient than digging out stones or setting up some kind of sharpening gizmo. It basically encourages you to keep your knives sharp rather than waiting until they are dull and needing to stone them - you pull this out, make a few passes and you're back in business. I don't believe it is as fine as they come though. I have another very similar product made I believe by "Smiths" (not 100% sure - apologies) that is finer and the two of them make a killer combination that will remove hair with ease - strop the knife and you're shaving. You can decide for yourself if the world may find itself in a situation forcing you to carry a long term sharpening solution with you, but I think a couple of these are much easier and lighter to carry than a full sized stone.

This item is very disappointing! The ceramic coating on the aluminum rod started to wear off with the first few sharpening swipes. After 3 knives the coating is almost completely gone and all that remains is an aluminum rod. I have been sharpening knives with a steel for many, many years and I do not abuse my tools or use it inappropriately. I read and followed the instructions that came with the knife. I am not sure if this unit is just a very poor sample or if all of these ceramic steel rods are the same but I would not recommend this brand. I had read a review that rated the DMT CS2 ceramic steel as one of the best; it is a waste of your money.

This is a superb steel and it hones my knives beautifully. It's well balanced and is a delight to use. I have it hanging by my knife rack and it doesn't take a minute to give the knives a quick hone. Definitely the best steel I've used.

Very well made and durable, I use it almost on daily basis. I just draw my knives a few strokes before use to keep them sharp.
