Do they slow close?

The both open and close with resistance from the gas piston so the slow close depends on how much force you put into closing them.

The resistance balance it just right so they will naturally sit either fully closed or fully open and you just manipulate them into whichever position you want.

Having used these to hack together a coffee table/toy chest from various Ikea parts, I can confirm that the gas piston puts out a certain amount of force that would need to be exceeded by the weight of the table top being used. Try adding some weight to the surface you've attached to the hinges in order to see how much more is required to obtain a decent operation. Then you may have to get creative on how you go about adding the additional weight to the top.

My hack ended up going in the opposite direction so they stay closed really well but it requires a little force to start them opening before they swing open at a decent speed and motion. It's been a while since I fitted them but I don't think the piston resistance has any mechanism to alter it sadly.

Hi, Not sure I can give you an absolute answer..... But on the first set I used the table top is really quite light, but I have no practical way of weighing it.
The hinges seem to have a balance point at which almost no weight is needed to keep it down, but as soon as it is slightly raised they open with a very considerable force until they click at the full extension.

I have just used a luggage strap scale on a one of the second pair of hinges which I have not yet used and this seems to indicate that as little as 180~200 grams is sufficient to hold it in the shut down position, but if opened less than 10mm  the extension requires in excess of 2.5 kg to stop it !!
