Nextmug - Temperature-Controlled, Self-Heating Coffee Mug

I love this cup! I originally bought it for my wife, but I ended up using it more than she does. It keeps drinks at the perfect temperature, and I can usually get through two hot beverages on a single charge. The only downside is that it's too large to fit in most car cup holders, so it's better suited for use at a desk or around the house. I also really like the LED display—it clearly shows the charging status, battery level, and temperature setting, making it very easy to use. Overall, it's a great mug, and I'm very happy with it.

2nd UPDATE: It is now April 2026. A sad day. It seems that the mug no longer heats up, even when sitting on the charger. Time to be replaced. Total lifespan was just about 2.5 years for anyone looking to purchase. UPDATE: It is now May 2025. About a month ago, I noticed that the mug no longer held a charge after about 5 min. I sit near my coaster all day anyway (desk job) so I just kept it on the coaster and it was fine. Unlike the Ember mug I had, this still kept things hot while on the charger. But now I'm also noticing it seems to auto shut-off after about an hour or two, so I have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't turn off. I'm a sipper so, yes, I do take hours to drink a mug of whatever! *************** I purchased this mug in Nov of 2023 and wanted to give it a good, long use before reviewing. I had previously gotten and used another, more expensive electric mug which is sold in all the stores at Christmas time. With THAT mug, you could set the temp of your mug via their app to a specific number and that was nice so I didn't expect to like this mug as much. But with the other mug, the coating inside the bottom wore off in about 6 months from stirring and after about a year, it really didn't keep my drinks piping hot anymore. With THIS mug, I use the middle (of the 3) setting, "hot" and it is piping hot for me. The hottest, "piping" is too hot (I used the max number on the previous mug to get it to the heat level I wanted). I have also not had a circular path appear on the inside bottom of this mug. And, a year later, it is still going strong. CAVEAT: I do keep it on its coaster the whole time and sip as I work (it takes me hours to drink a mug of something)... when I happen to be up and take my mug, without the lid, the charge lasts on HOT for about an hour. Maybe 90 min with the lid on. I am still quite satisfied! The previous mug's charger was concave and this one is convex, so I just had to get the hang of placing it on the charger correctly without it toppling over, but that was an easy adjustment. Both mugs are heavier than a standard mug (obviously - there is a battery in the bottom!) but I got used to their weight. I am very happy with my Nextmug and would buy it again!!

I love it! I get tired of having an app for everything, so not needing one for this is awesome! Keeps my coffee warm or hot or pupping depending on my mood and never disappoints! I now have two, one for work and at home.

UPDATE after a week, found another "flaw" not a fatal one would prob drop stars to 3.5 or 3.75 see bottom of review [note: I have had ember mugs for years now despite $$$ they are quality and great tech support also right away a 60 dollar Thermacup {falsely advertised bad product}] Likes: [day 2] No need to pair to phone variety of colors, same pricing 3 temp settings, is good enough for black coffee and me (would prefer more) Heat time seems accurate/batt life/ time will tell have used 2x. weight is ok, like the shape and handle base is ok nothing special, but better than ember in that its less likely yo collect water, that's' an Achilles heel for Ember, have returned several charging coasters. Next mug might be more likely to tip, though.....I use mine sans coaster...its slightly wobbly on there. shows charge level, though I'd kind of like those green lights off to save batt. and just would prefer them off I'll probably tape over. Does indeed turn off well as does Ember, Thermocup did not always and that could be a real hazard COMES WITH LID as did Tcup, Greedy ember wants 15 more bucks for a ring of plastic, lame! One size fits most! SO FAR ZERO REAL COMPLAINTS BESIDE PRICING SHOULD COST 60 bucks max????? WISH LIST: Ubiquitous usb C charging, direct to mug, or C to base and/or mug. At minimum C to base, d\Dont we all have enough charging blocks in our lives. This would be my number one suggestion. I guess with a c port on mug water damage could be more likely, but so may water resistant BT speakers do so. IN AN IDEAL WORLD: comes with protective case lighter plus usb fast chargeable wireless chargeable and dishwater safe precise temperatures in degree F or C, BUT NO PHONE NEEDED base of cup matches cup color (no big deal really) Other, I got mine on Amazon, but saw a pretty good deal on a four pack through the company's website. After having this say 6 months, I'll update if giftable, I like the lipstick pink of this mug, gives me a level of joy! one week update, seems to hold good charge, I don't think I'd ever want my coffee warm for more than 45minns to an hour anyways, much like Ember charges back up very slowly, no bog deal. FLAW: even on low (and both the med and high are much to hot IMO) the LAST SIPS WILL "BURN." Think bottom of heated coffee pot. Most certainly doesn't have the precision heat control of the overpriced competition, heater seem to be always on versus on/on/off/off to maintain temp. It does turn off nicely when finished, unlike the cheaper (quickly returned) Thermacup. Not a total "kill" I've taken to turning it off for last 1/4 cup o' joe. The ember will doe this as well, but far less so. I really like the shape and handle and size of This Nextmug. handle is superior to Ember's would be nice if the included sippy lid would close completely for travel Again its nice that said lid is included unlike Embers freaking 15 dollar piece of 30 cent plastic.

*Update* - I've had this mug now officially 2 years. It was starting to lose some battery life and I had a few issues with it. I contacted Nextmug to get some advice and assistance and after answering a few questions they are sending me a replacement mug. Their customer service is stellar. Their product is fantastic, but if anything goes wrong, it seems they will do whatever they can to make it right. Best purchase I've ever made -and I would make it again. I purchased two of these mugs in September 2024 - one for me and one for my wife. They were great while they lasted. I used mine nearly every day, while my wife used hers occasionally. Between June and July 2026, both mugs stopped working. They would turn on and indicate they were heating, but they wouldn’t actually heat unless they were sitting on the charging coaster. At first, I assumed mine had simply worn out because I used it so often. However, when my wife’s mug developed the exact same problem despite much lighter use, it became clear that wasn’t the issue. Also we always hand washed the mugs when cleaning and never submerged them. It seems the batteries have a limited lifespan and eventually stop holding enough charge to power the mug on their own. The concept is excellent, and I really enjoyed having coffee stay hot, but the execution falls short. 3 stars since at around $100 per mug, I expected them to last much longer than a year and a half. Because of that, I wouldn’t buy them again and wouldn’t recommend them unless they fix the battery issue.

I read the instructions and plugged in the charging coaster, which already had two green lights and charged it until it was fully charged at three green lights which took a while. The directions were confusing to read. But it wasn’t until I actually used the mug that I was able to understand them. I was also concerned about the length of time I could leave the charging coaster plugged in for charging. I went online and ask customer service whether the charging coaster could be left charging overnight, but never heard back from them. But I figured if the charging coaster could be left on indefinitely according to the instructions when drinking coffee at any temperature, I could charge it overnight. The charging coaster didn’t get hot nor did the plug. The first time I used the mug I had it on warm uncovered, which was the perfect temperature for me. My 1st cup of coffee stayed warm for just under two hours. For what I paid, I was not happy and thought about returning the mug. I chose this type of coffee mug because I need to use it without the charging coaster. So I tried again and followed the directions, using what I learned from my first cup of coffee. Pulsing lights, heating up, pulsing lights cooling down. There are pictures and few words, but I figured it out by just using the mug. For my second cup of coffee I did use the lid. I prefer not using lids, but it made sense not to lose heat. Warm is the perfect temperature for my coffee and it stayed warm for about four hours. Yah! The next test was finding out what would happen if I added coffee to the coffee left in the mug. (I make French press coffee and it doesn’t stay hot for long,). When I added the coffee, the light started pulsing letting me know it was heating the coffee. Okay! And it did and it was perfect and didn’t take long. The final test was a cup of tea. I made the tea in the mug and set the temperature to warm. Pulsing lights again but this time to let the tea cool down!!! One of the reviews I read before purchasing the Nextmug mentioned that the coffee tasted better. For me it’s that first sip of coffee that’s the best. But with the Nextmug all the sips taste like the first sip. It took me by surprise. Same temperature and same wonderful flavor from start to finish. I love this mug and highly recommended it. But it is a little pricey.

I bought this one for my husband and so far it is working great. It’s the second one we purchased. We have had the first one (mine) for almost a year. Keeps coffee hot. Mine will now only turn on if the mug is set on the charging disc for a moment and then turned on. It then shows a full battery and can be instantly taken off of the charger. If the temperature is changed to another setting while off the charger, the mug will shut off, or if the mug sits for any amount of time it will also shut off even though it still has full, or near full, charge. I was able to get it to work for a small amount of time by doing the reset process of holding the power button down for 5 to 10 seconds on each of the settings (once the mug was turned on by the charging disc) and advancing to the next setting, but then it would go back to doing the same thing it was doing before after a short bit. It has worked for the longest amount of time once I left it on the piping setting and let the coffee mug heat up all the way and then shut it off so far it will still turn on every now and then. We have let the company know this and they have been very responsive to the emails. Hopefully if you have these same issues this will help. The mugs are made very nice and mine still looks like new. I do think they could be a little cheaper on the price though. I would have purchased for Christmas gifts if they weren’t so expensive. Super easy to use when they work and hold a charge very well if you don’t want it on piping all the time. piping is SUPER hot lol. It is very true to its name lol.

Was man zusätzlich angeben sollte, wäre, dass man noch einen Europastecker-Adapter kaufen muss, da der Stromstecker in der USA-Norm geliefert wird. Die Tasse selbst ist sehr wertig und hält lange warm, so wie beschrieben.

After 15 month the mug would no longer keep heating and Nextmug offered to send replacement even outside warranty.

Received product. Did not know needed Uk adapter for plug-should be in description. Otherwise would give 5 stars. However mug is fantastic. I set it on ‘hot’- lasts hours with cover on. Love this product.

At first great, does yellow with coffee but the aftr 9 months the battery will not keep its charge anymore. Tried customer support with no success
