a newbie question...will this pencil accept .3mm leds? it seem to say .35mm on the body. thanks!

To be perfectly honest I haven't tried using that size lead in this pencil however I don't see why not since it's smaller as obviously a lead any bigger wouldn't fit and therefore not work. What I will say about this pencil is that I was a little disappointed that the top half of it has a plastic barrel where as I believed it to be metal just like my 600 which I was actually replacing with this one unfortunately after it had completely disappeared on me shortly after showing it off to a few friends. However if you're looking for a lightweight pencil that is made well with good grip and very comfortable for anyone regardless of how you may hold your pen or in this case a pencil and something that's not going to cost a complete fortune this is an excellent choice! If you do want a heavier pencil than I recommend going up to the 600 but expect to pay a little more but most certainly worth it! You can't go wrong with any of the rOtring line.

So, the only difference between them is the lead size..and the price?

yes - guess the .5 is most popular and thus cheaper .....

Is this .3 or .35? The description says .3 and the picture of the pencil shows .35....

It is .35 but .35 and .3 are actually the same diameter and I use .3 in mine. From a post on Fountain Pen Network: "0.3 and 0.35 are the same diameter lead, my Faber Castell TK-Fine Vario is marked with both sizes." <- A google search will confirm this.
