Easy to apply. I used my own gloves which were a much better fit. You need a small mixing bowl and spoon to mix the dye and developer. The box suggests you use a brush. I didn’t have one so used my hands and a comb. I was aiming to go darker after my hair went very blonde in the summer. I am 80% grey I reckon. I used about half the product on my shoulder length bob. I set timer to 38 minutes after I’d finished applying the gel. It came out much darker than the box photo suggests. A deep brunette on me ! Thankfully I like it. It covered the grey roots without any odd differences in colour. The enclosed conditioner was okay but not nearly as good as the Av**a one I use. So all in all a decent quality product.
