Review: The Good Tarot: Beautiful, inspiring, soothing, healing, nurturing, truly wonderful unique deck - The Good Tarot by Colette Baron Reid. Oh my days I adore this tarot deck so so much!!!!! There has been a lot of noise about this in tarot community as a result of its name, which has caused some controversy. I bought it after seeing it on a flip through of all the cards, on You Tube and I adore it soso much. The images are many layered and blended Photoshop style and there is so much in each picture, if you like to read intuitively its amazing. The pictures are soothing and gentle and great to meditate on. Please buy this deck because you like the art, maybe have a look at flip through video's that are on You Tube if you want to see all the cards first. I did that and loved so many, that from a collectors point of view, it had to come home. Having worked with it now, I am very bonded to this deck, it has a wonderful positive energy to it, and its images. If you choose to read the book that comes with the deck you will find it full of affirmations. Some cards have prompts to move you along in a given situation but the book is written in the first person, so they read as if you were speaking to yourself. My previous fave deck was; Native Spirit Oracle deck for its soothing imagery, and The Good Tarot is another one to go to, when you want to meditate on beautiful images. I can't say I know enough about 'traditional' tarot to comment on how 'well' its meanings translate in this deck. There are some cards I know and love well and seeing them in this deck some have been treated differently to what I would expect from tarot but personally I find that refreshing. Not sure what I make of the Hermit card being an intricate wooden door, and as others have mentioned the 8 of cups image in this deck does have a different look from trad tarot. Many other cards are so beyond beautiful and with such depth of meaning and feeling they make you want to cry (in a good way). If you come to the deck after being solely interested in Oracle, then this is a great transition deck. It does feel like its the offspring of Oracle n Tarot blend. There is no death card, no scary skeleton, instead number 13 is Transformation and the person in the card holds up a phoenix rising from the palm of her hands. The traditional death card is about change and transformation, yes possibly an ending but NOT about mortality literally, this makes the Good Tarot's working of the card so perfect. In the book, the author advises you to use this deck for single or at most 3 card draws, as a review of where you are now and advice on that, rather than for predictive readings. I feel this is mostly because of the wording in the book, if you are reading the images intuitively then I don't see there being a problem using it in a more expansive way, but I am a newbie to traditional Tarot so am in no way experienced enough to comment more deeply in that area. Due to the intricacy of the images, I have had several occasions where I got a feeling/connection, from the deck that really spoke to how I was feeling in that moment which was perfect, yet totally different to what was written in the book. This can be the same for any Tarot or Oracle deck so it is not a negative thing. For me it is a case of looking at an image and feeling how it feels, how it makes me react in response to the question I have posed rather than being fixed to books. But we each look for different things in a deck and use them in our own ways too. The other deck I have for Tarot and love is The Dreaming Way Tarot, that deck has beautiful drawn images that feel follow more close to the RWS system if that is your preference, BUT The Good Tarot has become my main deck, because of its layered beautiful imagery. Is this the right deck to use if you want to learn 'traditional' tarot and are wanting to use it with the one of the host of 'learn tarot' books that are available? No. Simply because those books are based very heavily on the RWS system and describe those traditional images. The images in the Good Tarot, are unique and do not rely so heavily on the RWS system. You would find it confusing to use this deck with those books. However as a stand alone deck, if you come to it from Oracle only experience then it is wonderful. Yes the basic Tarot structure is there; 78 cards with some rewording for some of the major arcana, and court cards, also the use of earth, air, fire water instead of Wands, Swords, Pentacles, Cups. I'm guessing this is going to be a marmite situation, if you have no prior experience of tarot or have found traditional RWS images..how do I put this.. intense, (I am not a fan of the original RWS decks, personal choice, to each their own) which is why I chose the Dreaming Way tarot as those images were softer. If like me you find that traditional style not to your liking but you are wanting a deeper/different experience to Oracle then this deck is really really worth considering. It feels very earth/natural spirit based. there are plenty of animals, faries, and blending of fantasy with folk style in a very multi layered image. This is defiantely one of those decks where each time you see a card you will see something new within it. Highly recommend this deck, for its own merit. Please take it as an individual and unique deck and appreciate it on that basis, rather than comparing it to what you expect to find in a traditional tarot deck. Beautiful, inspiring, soothing, healing, nurturing, truly wonderful unique deck. Get it, you need it, you want it. If it calls to you, say YES. Review: Tarot - as advertised, lovely, good quality

Amazing tarot deck !
I'm a fairy novice but we'll acquainted with the meanings of traditional cards. This deck is so inspirational and posit I've. You just need adapt to the slightly renamed suits but the cards are SO beautiful that the meanings come through. The accompanying book is small but comprehensive. I'very done two readings for myself after handling the deck over a number of hours. Very very accurate. Highly recommend !

A Tarot for Today
I don't often write reviews but I had to with this special deck. I used to use and collect tarot decks but got rid of them all a few years ago. I'm so glad I bought these, not only are the beautiful but I love the fact the darkness has been taken out of them. Any changes or challenges you may face are met with gentle yet stoic themes, leading you to hope instead of fear, giving you courage and aligning with nature and the planet. Although purist may not like the more gentle and serene version, I definitely prefer this over the darker The Rider-Waite tarot, first published 1909 ... after 112 years time to let the light shine.

A deck that will bring you out of your comfort zone.
This deck is certainly special and I do understand it could be kind of like Marmite you hate it or love it. The deck itself present in my opinion a great quality of glossy nice thick cards. The card are being designed by Jena DellaGottaglia who is the designer of her previous Oracle deck and as with the other Oracles they have been made by Photoshop or whatever software Jena uses. I know some people do not like this but particularly I do not mind specially when they are so well blended the imaginary and details each card present. The Tarot Deck has some similitude with an oracle deck reason why some people do not like or is not going to like this deck my suggestion is to not be put off for this and give it a try of course this is not mandatory at the end of the day they are hundred of tarot deck available and the important thing is the deck has to resonate to you so there is not obligation to stick with this deck at all. This deck follows the tarot format it is said, 22 major arcana plus 16 Court cards and 40 minor arcana. The size of the card is bigger similar to those of an oracle deck and they are border less. Really pretty to watch and get lost in their imaginary There are some changes in the 22 major arcana The lovers are named as Love, Wheel of the Fortune is named Fortune's wheel, Death is named Transformation, Templance is named Moderation, Devil is named as Temptation, and Judgement is named as Call. Other particularities within the majors are for example the Tower does not present the lightening which is not the first tarot deck with this particularity, the fool is not falling into the abyss but still have the innocence and naivety of the meaning of the card, the emperor is presented with a lion head bringing that sense of masculinity and power, The Hierophant is a female figure but truly embodied in the spiritual realm, Love is presenting a female resting on a lion clearly showing the choice and duality of the traditional meaning, the Hermit is a beautiful door with some keys that can suggest opening the gate to the unknown and taking the time needed and so on... The Court card are presented as Page, Messenger, Queen and King. I think this classification is going to be controversial due to the accepted understanding of the Pages as messengers but the word messenger in itself implies some movement or action and back on the time this messages were delivery by horse (Back in 1920's My grandpa worked as a postman and he delivered the mail or telegrams by bicycle) so it is not so far away or dissonant with the tarot Knights. From the four of the court cards I think the queens are the most beautifully done. The pip cards are divided by Earth, Air, Water and Fire and the card design really encapsulates the element for example fish, mermaid, water, pearls, shells etc are found within the Water pips I think that with this deck it is really important and needed to connect with your intuition so if you are the kind of reader that works "by the book" probably is not going to be for you but having say that you still can associate the WRS reading way to these cards without no problem at all. The deck is a positive, gentle, subtle and feminine in character it will work well if you are an intuitive reader or if you want to develop this area. Colette Red Baron states that this is a tarot for goodness, compassion, and birthing awareness of the true selves...In the book within the card brief card meaning she has wrote some affirmation to help us to transform what it a priory seem something negative into an opportunity and this is important to understand First it does not go into denial of a negative situation or card and bring a positive aspect to the card or situation to transform or overcome or getting a learning experience and second you can read using this affirmations or just follow your intuition and or relate to Classical tarot reading style. Finally the companion booklet for me is a bit let down I would prefer something with more detail but again if the Tarot is thought to be worked intuitively the detail would have killed the intention so.... Overall I like this deck I do think it is necessary to give some thorough revision of the deck to get familiarised with its tone and language.

There is nothing like opening a new, beautiful Tarot deck. I love the card stock of this deck. I love the size, easy to shuffle with my smallish hands but the visuals, the artistry is what I love most and why I was drawn to this deck, energetically. The guide book is also interesting and will be helpful to readers newer to Tarot. Highly recommend…

I originally choose to purchase this deck for the beautiful art and imagery. I find it stunningly appealing, and most importantly - it speaks to me. What I appreciate about this deck is the unique approach Colette conveys within the guide book; she provides the ADDITIONAL LAYER of understanding to the meaning of the cards; without repeating or rehashing the technical meanings behind each card. I'm very familiar with the language she uses in the understanding and processes of co-creation of our experiences with spirit, and the power of our intent/affirmations within our Inner World. I feel that Colette clearly and fully explains WHY this deck is designed the way that it is, and what makes it different from other decks on the market. Is this designed for a Beginner? Perhaps not. UNLESS the beginner needs to learn the mechanics of using the Tarot, in that case, an additional teaching tarot book would be useful. Is it designed for the Seasoned reader? Yes. There are no printed phrases or borders on the cards to distract from hearing your own inner guidance. Since I've worked with several decks over the years, often times when I look at any given tarot card, regardless of what deck I'm using; the corresponding images of the same card from another deck will be shown within my mind's eye. THIS deck provides the ADDITIONAL layer of understanding behind the energy of the card's meaning. The card stock is standard size and thickness like most oracle cards, the laminate is medium gloss, and plain edging - no gold or silver. Which I'm fine with because oftentimes that kind of edging irritates my fingers when shuffling. I had pre-ordered this deck and have been using it daily since the release date. Because of the gloss finish or perhaps the deck may need broken in more, the cards still have a tendency to cling together while shuffling. Regardless, I've very happy with my purchase and it makes a great addition to my Tarot collection!
