Not What I expected...
Having bought green lentils from the supermarket for many years, I have come to expect that when cooked they would increase bulk, but retain shape; these are different! Out of the packet, they are noticeably bigger than the supermarket variety, and a very pale green-brown colour. After an overnight cold soak, and only five minutes of gentle simmering, they become a mushy mess. In many cases the outer layer of each lentil separates from the inner, so the top of the saucepan is a mass of empty husks, and the rest is an unappealing mush. These lentils are very different from supermarket green lentils.
