We have two cats. One enjoys sleeping with our daughter, and one with my wife and me. This is cozy until they decide they don't want to be in the room anymore, usually about 2 AM. This means we either need to leave the door cracked with a doorstop so they can let themselves in and out or get up to open the door for them. This cat door solved the problem literally beautifully. The cats can come and go as they please, and we can maintain our privacy while still sleeping. The doors are small enough and low enough to the ground that the room beyond can't easily be seen but large enough for good-sized cats (ours are about 18 pounds) to come and go with no issue. The detail on these doors is impressive. Door knobs, lanterns, and even a little 'doorbell; detail on the right side. They include plastic 'glass' in the windows, even though there is no need except to make them look like real french doors. And the doors can be locked open or closed to keep them from swinging around as you open and close the door in which they are installed. The instructions for installation are detailed and include a template for cutting into your door. You *will* need to cut into your door, but for us, it was completely worth it. A true 30-minute installation, from start to clean-up, at least with a hollow-core door like we have. YMMV. Installation was as easy as it could have been, though I think it would be difficult without a jigsaw. This item transformed an annoyance in our nightly routine into a feature of the home. Folks we show this to ask for the link. It's about twice the cost of a basic, rectangular, cat door, but for us, completely worth it. We now have three in the house.

Was on the fence between this one and the XL because we own a 14 lb. Maine coon. Went with this one just to see how it would go and she fits perfectly through it no problems. The look is cute! The assembly is easy, and you can lock the doors open so they won’t flap around as you open and close the door. Keeps our puppy out of the cats space as well. I’d buy again.

Installation was simple for anyone who is familiar with basic hand and power tools. You will need to remove the door hinge pins, to lay the door down to work. You will need some scissors, a jigsaw, and a phillips head screwdriver (i recomend a powered screw driver). The installed finished product has a great appearance, and provides good functionality. The little details about this kit are one of the things that makes it such a good product. There are no visible screws whith all attachments being covered with a plug. On this particular model the upper screw holes are covered by little lanterns. The doors can be locked shut and locked open, and cannot be easily opened by a determined kitty. All in all I recommend this product. This is my third one.

not only is this well made, its super cute and my cats love it. keeps my dogs out of their safe place/ food area and allows them easy access to get to their room whenever they want. easy to install and is the perfect size to blend and not be an eye sore. i highly recommend this.

We put this on our basement door because our litter box is located down there. We had something similar to this before, but this is so much better. The doors are actually working and the little door handle locking is adorable. We had work done on our house and needed to contain the animals, so the closing was perfect for temporary use. The cats all love it. You are committing to cutting a hole in your door but honestly it’s worth it. Super easy to use after it is installed. If you’re a cat person, get it! We get lots of comments on how cute it is!

My cat loves this little door and will even use it when the big door is open. I like how you can close it so if I need to keep my cat in/out of the room I can. Looks exactly like the pictures, and was incredibly easy to install.

The product is great, easy to install and looks adorable. The only reason I did not give it a 5 stat is how low the door is, making my small cat just a year old having to crouch to fit through. If the door was 2-3 inches taller it would be perfect.

I have 3 cats and one dog that loves to sometimes terrorize those three cats! I ordered this pet door to install in my closet door so that the cats can escape to their cat condo that I made inside the closet. The pet door was very easy to install and is very sturdy. The double doors are much nicer to look at than a normal flap type pet door. Double doors can be locked in either the closed or open position via one of the door knobs or by tabs on each door. The door even has porch lights (non-functioning) on each side of the doors! I enjoy watching my cats using this door so much, am already trying to figure out where I could put another one!
