can it tell what the humidity is and spray when it gets too low?

No, it does not have a humidity sensor. It runs in a timer or you can most in between the set times manually.

I setup the unit per the instructions. When I power it on, it just beeps once every two seconds. The 3 buttons on the front don’t do anything. ???

Both nozzles can be used simultaneously in one or two aquariums. If you add multiple nozzles to your reptile humidifier, this may result in a very small mist.

How do you connect the mister to the lid?

I drilled holes into my lid. It requires you put some elbow grease into it

Does this just spray out a fine mist of water or can it be set to emit a "fog" like a fogger? Or does it spray a "stream" instead of a fine mist?

More like a fine spritz of water so not a fog as I have discovered .they do have fogers but this is more like a mini sprays
