If thinking about trying this product then I highly recommend getting this travel size first to save money (here is my review on the larger size of this… and yes I got this first before I went headfirst into buying this item) Quick sum- Without gel it doesn’t hold enough. However I do enjoy the bounce in my curls. I tired it by itself and I found my hair to be quite curly and bouncy. However it didn’t have the hold I usually like and got quite frizzy after a day or so. However I’ve now incorporated it into my daily hair routine. So I guess I’m sold! I’m someone who likes to wash my hair either every five days or possibly once a week. When I do I try the “wash now style later” method… unless I have something special in which case I’ll diffuse right after I’ve washed. In my daily use with this product- I’ll keep a little conditioner in my hair (like a leave-in), use a volumising cream, grab a towel to squeeze out most of the water, spray this product all over so it’s wet again, comb through, and then wet plop for a bit. Once I’m happy I’ll take some gel and a styling brush and encourage the curl/style I want. Then I dry plop OR diffuse. I’ll probably add some gel or serum or cream to my hair once dry again… possibly hairspray if going somewhere I need it more secure. And that’s it. When I’m doing a refresh I will add a bit of conditioner to my hair with some water and try to either comb out or take out some knots. Then spray this all over my hair and let it be. Again styling as usual. I do think it does a nice refresh. Is this a one and done? For me no. Do I like how my hair curls and has it simplified my routine? Very much so. For reference my hair is mixed porosity -mostly low, And anywhere from a 2c -3c. Mostly 3a/b but can drop the curl in areas with a bad product and get super bouncy with a great one.

Has a bit of an odd smell — kind of like when someone sneezes, not terrible but noticeable. It worked okay on my hair, but probably better suited for finer curls rather than thick, coarse ones. Didn’t get the results I hoped for.
