If not, how much of the lead do they use before the spring becomes faulty? Many thanks** A: They are most definitely NOT refillable. I had assumed they would be by removing the rubber or even from the tip, but unfortunately not... a single-use throwaway plastic item I'm afraid. I should have checked, the BIC version comes with 3 leads vs. one with these and the BICs are refillable by removing the rubber. A lesson learned which I hope is useful information for others. **Q: Are they coloured just on outside or do they draw in colours? (red, black,...?)** A: Just plain pencil -only coloured on the outside **Q: Some mechanical pencil leads are quite hard these days. can you tell me whether these are soft and smooth? not all hbs feel like hb thx** A: I use these for sudoku and so I need them to be soft enough to be easily rubbed out. They are the best pencils around, I just wish they rubbers lasted as long as the pencils as I have boxes of pencils with plenty of lead but the rubbers have finished. **Q: How much lead comes in each pencil please?** A: A lot! I am a sudoku addict and get the most difficult books from amazon,usually with 200 puzzles in each. 1 pencil should cover at least 2 books.However the erasers in the end are different to the usual pencil erasers in that they are very long lasting but even so they often wear out before the leads.
