Great piece of retro nostalgia!
Ok, so I have a bias... I'm an 80's child and had one as a kid and I loved it! This is a repro, though faithful to the original. It feels a little small, but I've grown a lot since the 80's! Simple and functional and still very cool. A must for any Back to the Future fans! Points to note - It doesn't have a backlight, so you'll need some exterior light to see it in the dark. I've seen lots of reviews complaining that the date when set doesn't match the day (which can't be changed independently). This is to do with the default date format on the watch: set YEAR first, then MONTH then DAY of month. The day of the week will then show correctly. A great watch and good value nostalgia.

Usable, functional, light and very good
Fantastic watch. Less complicated than its 80s inspiration. No memory buttons, but an actually usable calculator. It doesn’t feel heavy or bulky.

Great watch but…
So if you like nostalgia and in particular back to the future you will love this watch, its a blast from the past, simple and the original calculator watch so is practical and functional too. The quality of the product is good i can imagine over time the strap becoming damaged by the clasp taking the watch off and putting back on, but that would be a few years from now i think. There is no back light on the display at all so defo retro feel shame as it would be almost perfect if it had one so you could check in low light or in the dark. Functions - 2 clock options to set different times on (in sure there is a use for this but i can't think of one, maybe travel?!) there is a stop watch with lap functionality. The date can be displayed and there is a calculator too. You can set an alarm and the watch will omitt a high pitch beeping. You can also set it to beep the hour too. Overall the watch is exactly as expected and in comparison to the smart watches around today it is extremely light. The reason for the drop of a star is because the packaging was not the best experience it felt like a whole sale version rather than a retail one. Came in a plastic bag no case or casio box so that was a bit underwhelming if I'm honest. Do i recommend the watch absolutely. Are there better experiences possible for the delivery and packaging? Absolutely. But if apl you care about is the watch then just buy it. Job done.

Functional and nostalgic at a good price 👌
Great watch with a huge nostalgia hit, how can you go wrong? Marty Mcfly and Walter White approved straight out of the box. With a long history behind it this watch could easily be a victim of its own success by being left behind by the march of technology but there is still a place for this little charmer. The calculator comes in handy even if the buttons do need a bit of care to use. You get two time zones a stopwatch with split time, alarm and day date calendar. So not ground breaking but a good solid performer, much has been said about the lack of back-light but you get used to not having it. You won't be diving with this watch but washing your hands or getting caught in the rain isn't a catastrophe. So if your looking for a practical watch with good useful features and the added bonus of the movie and TV fame but not a huge budget then this could be the watch for you. It was for me.

Looks bigger in photos.
The watch is very nice, but it looks way bigger in photos (on someone's wrist) than it actually is. Watch design is very slim, therefore it looks small in person. I was hesitating to buy the Casio DBC-32 because it looked too big(bulky) for my taste. I knew all the features and the flaws of this watch before buying it, so I'm not complaining. Just pointing out some details. Hopefully I'm giving a good piece of advice for a future buyer who has not decided which calculator watch to buy. For those who worry about the size just go with this watch (CA-53W). For others - I'd suggest to go for the DBC-32 version. The DBC-32 is backlit which is a simple yet a very useful feature and has bigger display. Don't worry about the size so much, because this watch (CA-53W) is much smaller than it looks in pictures, so I assume the DBC-32 version must be not that big too. Pros of the CA-53W: Very slim - the watch itself and the strap. Buttons are way more comfortable to use than I imagined they would be. Light. Cons - Strap is slim therefore feels weak. Depending on the lifestyle it feels as if it could last years or just a week. Overall experience: I enjoy this retro watch. Using the calculator function quite often just because I can!. Size is perfect. If it had the backlit I wouldn't even have second thoughts about DBC-32.

I'm a huge fan of retro-style watches, and the Casio CA53W Vintage Series is a fantastic addition to my collection. This watch is a modern take on the classic Casio C-53, which was popular back in the80s and90s. The CA53W retains the same nostalgic charm as its predecessor, but with a few welcome updates. Design and Build (5/5) The CA53W has a sturdy build quality that belies its affordable price point. The watch features a38.4mm case, which is compact enough for smaller wrists. The design is unmistakably retro, with a boxy shape, chunky buttons, and a iconic Casio logo on the dial. The watch is available in several color options, but I opted for the classic black and white combo. Functionality (4.5/5) The CA53W is more than just a pretty face. It features a range of useful functions, including a24-hour clock, alarm, and a built-in calculator (yes, you read that right - a calculator!). The calculator is a fun throwback to the original C-53, but it's not exactly the most practical feature in modern times. That being said, it's still a neat party trick. Accuracy and Reliability (5/5) As you'd expect from Casio, the CA53W is incredibly accurate and reliable. The quartz movement is precise, and I've found that it keeps perfect time. Scratch Resistance (4.5/5) The CA53W features a mineral crystal display, which provides decent scratch resistance. While it's not as scratch-resistant as some higher-end watches with sapphire crystals, it's still a significant improvement over the original C-53. In my daily wear, I've noticed a few minor scratches on the crystal, but they're barely noticeable. Overall, the mineral crystal does a great job of protecting the watch face from everyday wear and tear. Value (5/5) At around $20, the CA53W is an absolute steal. You'd be hard-pressed to find a watch that offers this level of quality, design, and functionality at such an affordable price. Overall (4.8/5) The Casio CA53W Vintage Series is a must-have for anyone who loves retro-style watches or is simply looking for a fun, affordable timepiece. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of more modern smartwatches, it's a beautifully designed and built watch that will appeal to anyone who appreciates a blast from the past. Recommendation: If you're in the market for a stylish, affordable watch that's perfect for everyday wear, look no further than the Casio CA53W Vintage Series. It's a great conversation starter, and its unique design will undoubtedly turn heads. Pros: Retro design Affordable price point Accurate quartz movement Fun calculator feature Decent scratch resistance Cons: Calculator feature may not be practical for everyone Limited water resistance (only10m) Mineral crystal may not be as scratch-resistant as some other materials Overall, I'm thoroughly enjoying my Casio CA53W, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish, affordable watch with a bit of nostalgia thrown in.
