No it doesn't scratch. Black marks are left by the metal rod but are easy to clean off the toilet.

Question 2

Would this be suitable for an outdoor blocked pipe? Pressure washer put muck n moss down it n clogged it!

Don't see why not as long as you can screw the auger into the pipe with space around it ie not too tight a fit.  As the pressure washer did the blocking it might be a larger drain - could you not get long Marigolds and go fishing? I used it from the outside to push'n'screw up the blocked kitchen pipe as I couldn't go from the sink downwards as there was a right angle bend then there were too many gentle bends in the pipework under a concrete floor!  I used 23 of the 25' to clean what would have been about 13-14 feet if straight. Whichever plumber, word used advisedly, did that should have been stuffed into said pipe. Anyway, brilliant little tool.

Question 3

Can this be used to unblock the toilet as a normal length snake not unblocking

The auger is more than 3 metres long and would certainly be long enough. I only used it a couple of times , to clear kitchen
waste pipes . I have never used it to clear toilet waste . If you live in a single dwelling and are careful about what is flushed down the system ... it should only be human waste. , no diapers or paper towels  , you may have to call a drain clearing specialist. Should you live in an apartment building, some of your co-tenants may be flushing dainblocking items down . I hope this helps .

can you put it down the plug hole? or will I need to undo a joint to get it in?

I would recommend undoing the U-bend joint and pushing it in from there on down the drain outlet (bucket under the open joint to start with obviously). I suspect that the end would not go through the grid on the plug hole (if you have one). It's extremely flexible and I discovered two right angle-ish bends somewhere under the floor (whoever did the plumbing in our house obviously laid the pipework across the kitchen and dining room floor then laid concrete over it - I had 25 feet of its pipe across what should have been about 15 of floor!). The alternative is, if possible, to start where the drain comes out and push it into the house. The end is metal so would scratch stainless steel or porcelain; keep twisting it as you push it in/through the pipework, pull back if it snags and twist the other way, and be patient; I saved a huge amount of money compared with going to Dyno-rod - but I'm perhaps mean and certainly stubborn. Once cleared I'd then use a proprietary drain cleaner to de-grease pipes thoroughly. Long rubber gloves also useful as it is a messy and smelly job!
