In fact, in trying to use it for reading, it's nearly impossible, because you can only focus on a few words at a time while the surrounding text is distorted. This requires your hand to be in constant motion, moving the magnifier across the page while reading...an unnatural thing to have to do, in my opinion. I tried varying the distance between the magnifier and the page. When it's closer to the page, there is less distortion, but it still requires your hand to be in constant motion, moving across the page.The Good: I will say the quality of the lens seems really nice. It is crystal clear and feels substantial. It comes with a nice carrying pouch with pull ties. It is ergonomically designed and feels good in the hand. This would be a nice little magnifyer to keep in the kitchen or bathroom to take a quick up-close look at something small, or for reading the small print on medicine bottles and such.Summary: I would have given this magnifier a 5-star if it hadn't been misrepresented as "for reading" and "distortion-free". I ended up purchasing a Carson Optical Pro-Series Magnivisor lighted headset, with 4 different lenses.
