Beautiful book, very well set out and good price for size and content

This is a beautifully designed book. Lovely photographs. Easy to follow instructions & informative details. I own a number of the books in this series.

A really nice book, and very inspiring for beginners. It focuses on basic principles for using pop up techniques for promotional materials.

Fabulous & highly creative book that clearly outlines some stunning designs. It contains full nets for all designs so adapting the ideas to your own specification is made much easier - or using it with college students is made more straight foreword.

Paul Jackson spans the divide between origami and creating 3D cards, books etc. This is a must for anyone looking at making pop-up books. This gives the essential basics & inspiration.

One the plus side, the book is beautifully and simply designed. The emphasis is on clarity and instruction. However, as someone who wanted to broaden their understanding of the medium I have to say that about 75% of the coverage is so simple as to warrant it pointless to me - many of the plans are so similar that they needn't be in. I've noticed that their are several books in this series which makes me feel like this is a way of making money. If there was a full compendium of these ideas in one bigger book it would make much more sense. Nevertheless, Paul Jackson is a real leader in paper techniques so if you're really starting off from scratch then you will get some help from this book.

L'ho acquistato con "Folding Techniques for Designers: From Sheet to Form" dello stesso autore Paul jackson. Le edizioni sono molto belle realizzate con carta uso mano opaca, corredate di fotografie in bianco e nero che mostrano le possibilità di realizzazioni con un semplice cartoncino. Le piegature e tagli vengono indicati step by step con semplici tutorial grafici. Ottima guida per apprendere le tecniche di piegatura e approcciare un hobby molto rilassante. Se amate l'origami giapponese tradizionale, utile per riprodurre animali, figure antropomorfe e così via, questi manuali non fanno per voi in quanto mostrano come creare forme tridimensionali geometriche o astratte.

I'm a life-long fan of popup books. In the late 1950s, an uncle who had served in Japan brought home some amazing Japanese pop up books and as a pre-schooler, I was hooked! I've loved to read them to my kids as a parent and collect them, to this day, for reading to next generations. My wife and I both enjoy craft projects, when we have the time, and working with card stock in creating unusual, eye-catching materials is something we enjoy -- and that people who are on the receiving end seem to enjoy as well. That's the background. We have supplies around the house, already, like various kinds of card stock, a complete set of craft knives, cutting boards, etc. This book, then is a perfect, step-by-step orientation to turning card stock into three-dimensional pop ups, starting with very basic shapes and, by the end of the book, graduating into super-cool constructions. There are other books offered on Amazon claiming to offer the same introduction -- and my wife and I have a couple of the other books, as well. Some are morel colorful than this book. Some seem to be more fun to explore. But for someone who seriously wants to be producing these ingenious crafts, this is a very solid book. Step by step. Charts you can easily replicate on your own desk or work table. A logical progression of how the effects are generated. If our experience sounds like your expectation, then this is a great choice for you.

This book explains the basic principles of “Origami Architecture” in a very clear manner. All the designs and samples are made in plain white paper to underline the play of shadows and, at the same time, invite the reader to go beyond the white space and explore color and textures. I am in the process of learning from scratch new techniques and I’m sure I’ll consult this book frequently. Bought in Kindle format.
