Good quality
Good quality coil spring compressor. Feels solid and well made, and it did the job safely without any issues. Easy to use with clear instructions. Great value for the price and worked exactly as expected.

Good price, sturdy, does the job
Never changed a spring before, but having had one spontaneously shear and fall out while car was parked up I decided I would have a go myself putting a new spring in as half the job had been done already :-). Chose these a) becuase they looked sturdy and safer with the double hooks and b) because they looked good value. Found them easy to use, gradually tightening each one by equal number of turns using 21mm socket to ensure equal compression on opposite sides of the spring. These compressors well up to the job had no concerns about their grip on the spring if you tighten them them alternately and gradually each side. Popped the spring in place and slackened off gradually each side again. Job done :-). All thats left to do is tobise them to remove and replace the other side when the rain stops :-) Would recommend.

I am still alive and my wife is furious
Let me set the scene. Me, a driveway, a coil spring, and a set of cheap compressors that had absolutely no intention of respecting either physics or my continued existence. The spring made a noise I can only describe as “threatening.” My wife appeared at the window with an expression I couldn’t quite read at the time but now recognise as cautious optimism. I survived. She seemed disappointed. Round two with these Hilka compressors was a completely different story. Solid, grippy, didn’t bow, didn’t slip, didn’t attempt to launch my hands into next week. Just did the job like a proper bit of kit should. I’m now on speaking terms with my own suspension again. The Mrs has gone very quiet and started googling holidays for one, which I’m choosing to ignore. If you’re replacing cheap spring compressors that have already tried to kill you — and let’s be honest, we’ve all been there — just buy these. Your hands will thank you. Your wife will not. Five stars. Would survive again. 🙌🔧

they need extra grinder cutting to be able to do anything
I tried it on a Megane2 shock absorber. I did knew what I'm buying. Minuses: they need to be cut on one sides to be able to press more because there are lesser turns which you can grab. Pay atention at cracks if they appear. And also that side bolt needs to be shortened otherwise you can mount it back because the bolt prevents you from placing back the strut on to the car front arch . Also since they don't come with some rubber pads they will scratch the spring coat wich , in tome translates in rust build on the spring. Also a pair of washers on each one of the preses bolt should be placed to prevent drag between the bolt and the press(head side of each bolt) and shaving the press hooks. They're rest of the advert pics are done by guys who don't know much nothing of engineering. :)

Excellent value with a good weight to them
A pair of excellent compressors, I have two other sets and prefer these. The angle isn't quite right so they do not compress vertically but felt sturdy and removed my springs in conjunction with a pair of my others, I never feel 2 is enough for a large front spring

A bit rough, but good for the price
I had to replace the front struts in my 2013 Toyota Prius, and after looking at more expensive coil spring compressors, I ended up buying this set, which quite a few Land Rover Defender owners recommended on forums. I probably won't use it again for several years, but it did the job without any problems, and I am happy with the purchase. I suggest you arm yourself with two ratchet wrenches fitted 21mm sockets, or two ratchet spanners, or one of each. That way the job goes much more quickly than using a plain spanner. On the plus side is the low price and the twin claws. On the negative side is the rather rough finish to the hex heads of the screws which made me wonder whether a socket would fit. It certainly doesn't "ooze quality", but I'll give it five stars anyway.

Works, but not very well made
The metal in these is not the best, the threads are the wrong type for such a tool. It really should have an ACME syle thread.. not a standard thread which these have. The thread will strip very easily and quickly I have an older pair I purchased and used a long time ago. which obviouly these are designed / styled after. They are much better quality than these. So yes they will do the job.... but only just

OTTIMO
