top grinder for the money
This is an honest and cheap little grinder. It arrived within a couple of days and was well packaged. I have seen a lot of negative reviews but for the price you cant beat it. This whole unit cost me less than one grinding disc for my oregon chainshaw sharpener! If you have some heavy grinding jobs then obviously you are going to need a bigger machine. I use this one for sharpening all my garden tool blades - brushcutter, shears, lawnmower, and also drill bits and knives and chisels. I dont know how people have burnt the motor out, it seems very robust to me. Maybe the motor has been specced up. I have wanted a bench grinder for years and am glad i bought this one. I havent decided where to mount it on my bench yet, but because it has a rubber anti-vibration pad underneath it is quite easy and safe to use it without having to mount it- at least straight away - until you have decided the best place. In my opinion every small hobbyist workshop should have one.

Decent Bit of Kit for the Price – Does the Job but Not Perfect
Picked up the Silverline 150W bench grinder for a bit of DIY sharpening in the shed. For the money, it’s actually not bad – feels fairly solid and the motor’s got enough grunt for basic jobs like chisels and mower blades. Easy enough to set up and doesn’t take up much space on the bench. That said, it does vibrate a fair bit when you first turn it on, so make sure it’s bolted down properly or it’ll walk off on you. The guards and tool rests are a bit flimsy too – they do the job, but don’t expect premium quality. Overall, it’s not professional-grade kit, but for a budget grinder to use now and then, it’s spot on. If you’re a casual DIY-er like me, it’ll do the trick.

Not perfect, but perfectly fine.
Ordinarily if a product had a few minor faults I'd probably knock off a star or two, depending, but I just don't feel like I need to do that here. It does what it says on the tin, and for £20 you can't really complain. So mine, when it arrived, the right hand guard looked a bit wonky, or bent, but it may just have not been attached correctly; When removing and attaching the outer guard to change wheels you need to kind of wiggle it around a bit to set it straight. I think the wheels on mine are ever so slightly off centre, but it's by such a small amount that the movement of your hand will probably affect your sharpening more than this, and it may also just be an uneven wheel not ground straight yet. I haven't used it enough to take much from the wheels yet. If you also buy the recommended SilverLine wire wheel that Amazon recommends, then be prepared to leave both the inner and outer guards off the grinder, mine wouldn't even spin up with them on it. I think this might have caused some other people issues since the device doesn't seem to have a lot of torque, it gets its power from slowly building up speed, so if the wire wheel is sticking against the sides it just doesn't have the power to spool up. But, once it does get up to speed it works great. Yea, this probably isn't the most powerful and precisely machined grinder in the world, but it will do the job for you, no problem. It's also not too loud, in fact it seems really quiet, it's got an almost soothing humming sound. Quite relaxing. My recommendation: Buy one of these if you want a grinder for the odd couple of jobs, and use that extra £40-50 leftover to buy yourself another tool or two as well..

life saver
This thing has saved my life more than I can count with various DIY jobs. It’s small and easy to use with a course and fine grinding stones installed right away. Only downside is the power isn’t very good and can stall easily but I am tough with it so that’s user error

Good quality tool
Bought this mainly to sharpen hand tools and drill bits, drill bits work great as very light load with no depreciable drop in wheel speed, fine for smaller jobs. The 150mm wheels may need dressing more often if used on larger tools or bits of metal, there's not much of a face to spread the sharpening load if that makes sense. Would recommend.

Ideal for small jobs
Motor isn't very powerful, so wouldn't recommend using it for heavy grinding ect.. ideal for buffing up something or sharpening knifes, but value for money, and good little thing 👍 I'm pleased with it, as I can use the angel grinder for the bigger jobs but this will do the small jobs

Silverline bench grinder - perfect for the "shed dweller" in your life
My husband has been wanting one of these for ages - over the years he seems to have accumlated many shaped/sized chisels, all of which are blunt. I saw him looking on the internet for one of these and brought this one. He is very happy with this purchase, however, one of the plastic see through guard flappy things has cracked (his own fault as he over tightened the screw - so do be careful - easily fixable) and on arrival the right side stone (the smooth one) the mounting plate for the guide bar was bent - big hole in the box, not postal fault as the amazon delivery box was in perfect condition - we believe it got damaged in the holding bay/type place where its stacked up...but my husband managed to bend it straight with pliers and a bit of elbow power. when you switch it on, is has a gentle hum which gets a little louder as the wheels speed up (i actually think its comforting sound - but don't tell OH i told you that) but it is not loud, it apparantly works really well, he has done half his chisels, he has cleaned up scrapers, my garden hoe, and attempted my shears - but he can't do the whole length of the shear blade as the grinding wheel space is too narrow but he only misses about 2 inches off the fattest part of the shear blade, he has told me he is going to persevere with it and see if he finds a better "knack". I am very pleased with this grinder and my husband is over the moon - its compact, not too noisy, does the jobs he needs it to do, and a very reasonable price. I opted for super saver delivery, and it came in 3 days.
