A Comprehensive Guide for the Serious Student
I have just started training to become a yoga teacher, and this is the first book I purchased as recommended reading for our course. It is extremely comprehensive, and covers and explains all aspects of Yoga practise concisely and practically, including Pranayama (breath work), and other practises which are less well known, but which are as much a part of yoga practise as the Asanas (postures). If I just open the book on a random page, there is something fascinating to read. It gives in-depth details of postures, breaking each description down into a clear line-drawing, the physical side of the posture, the breathwork during the posture, and the spiritual emphasis of the posture. Most importantly, it gives the contraindications for each posture as well as the benefits. I wouldn't be without this book and I know it will provide valuable material for me for the rest of my life. The only small drawback is that the postures and practises are indexed only by their Sanskrit names, which can be quite problematic when you just want to quickly find something. However, the sections are quite distinctly grouped as to the type of posture, so once you are familiarised with the book, it's not so hard to find what you need. Also, it means that you quickly start to learn the Sanskrit names- although pronunciation is another matter! I would recommend this book for someone who is looking to deepen their practise and find out more about Yoga. It might be a bit heavy-going for the beginner, but on the other hand, it may be very inspirational.

The Essential Guide for Every Yoga Practitioner
Asana, Pranayama, Mudra, Bandha by Swami Satyananda Saraswati is like the bible of yoga. It offers comprehensive information on asanas, chakras, and more. This book is a must-have for anyone starting their yoga journey, whether as a teacher or a proactive self-learner, to deepen their understanding and practice with accuracy. Itโs good value for money, arrived well packed, and came before the expected time. Highly recommended!

a great comprehensive yoga guide
I have been practising yoga for some years but have only recently become interested in looking beyond the physical poses, so I asked my yoga teacher to recommend something to read. This book explains the history and philisophy of yoga in a clear and concise way and also describes the asanas (poses) with clear illustrations. It is a good book to dip in and out of. Also the main chapters are marked with black ink on the side of the book making it easy to locate them. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to explore beyond the yoga taught in the average fitness class.

A guide to enlightenment
A very well written set of instructions that are easy to understand and execute. Sufficient cautionary texts to highlight when certain practices should not be done. This manual should be used in conjunction with the different wall chatrs for clarification and easy referende.

Most amazing Yoga book I own, and I own a few
I am a Yoga Instructor and fervent practitioner. After reading and loving Swami Satyananda Saraswati's "Yoga Nidra" and "Kundalini Tantra", I ordered this book. I love Swami Satyananda's style, it is clear, concise, no-nonsense, down-to-earth, and very thorough. This has to be the most complete book on Yoga that I own. The Asana section is very well structured, clear and easy to follow. But what I love most are the sections on Mudra, Bandha and Shatkarma, which in general are not easy to come by in a book. Finally a work which gives you an insight on the completeness of this beautiful art that is Yoga. Thank you Swami Satyananda!

One of the best books out there on hatha yoga
Amazing book! The pawanmuktasana series are an absolute gem in this book. This book explains how yoga asanas , pranayma bandha and mudras should be practiced in a systematic step by step procedure. This is one of the most authorative books on the subject of hatha yoga practices and its very freindly reading. This is an essential must have book for any aspiring yoga student or tracher or even enthusiast of yoga. Highly recommend
