Really liking this harness!
Update - Bought that one almost a year ago and it's held up well. The metal rings are a little worn. We also bought a second one for our other pup. This style of Gooby is the one we prefer. Stays in place well and doesn't choke them. Our small doodle is 17 pounds and about 19 inches around/girth. We got the large and it firs great. We needed to switch because a lot of the step in harnesses hit her trachea if she pulls at all. This harness doesn't touch her trachea at all. It's great! Highlights - it's easy to get the right fit with 4 adjustable straps. It's good quality. It doesn't rub under her armpits like other harnesses. And no choke is awesome! No cons but one thing to note is the metal rings are somewhat large and they sometimes get jammed in my leash clasped and it can be hard to get off. But no big deal. We are really happy with this purchase.

Love it!
This is a great harness. My dog is 9 lbs, has a 10" neck and a 15" chest. She wears a medium in this style and it fits her perfectly. She's never been able to get out of it and has yet to choke herself when she spots a squirrel or bird, though she stubbornly tries to run after them. I've recently found that I like Gooby products (like the Gooby Every Day Fleece Cold Weather Dog Vest for Small Dogs, Red, Medium ), so at first I tried the Gooby Choke Free X Frame Soft Harness with Micro Suede Trimming for Small Dogs, Medium, Black , but this is far better in my opinion. It's so much easier to put on, it fits more securely, and it has a more streamlined look to it. This is the best harness I've ever purchased. Update: After using this harness for over two months - three times a day, every day, through sun, fog, and rain - it has stretched out a bit. It no longer fits as snugly as I would prefer. And seeing as how my dog was at the very edge of being a medium (she wore all the adjustments at their smallest), it does look quite loose around her legs and chest when she's just standing still. I can see how if I needed to urge her forward with the use of the harness that it might go over her head and she'd be free. I adjust all the straps at the beginning of every walk now, just to make sure everything's as tight as possible. I don't blame anything but natural wear and tear; materials stretch over time. I was planning on purchasing another harness anyway, this time I'll just choose the small knowing it'll get bigger as time goes on, and this medium will be relegated to being worn atop my dog's thicker fleece vests. Update: I wound up buying the small harness (or two) and it fits even better than the medium! My dog's right in the middle of the strap adjustments, so she has room to grow a big bigger or a bit smaller. For comparison, I've added pics of the medium (black) vs. the small (red). As you can see, the medium gaps a little at the chest, whereas the small fits snugly. I still love this harness just as much as before, maybe even more. I feel a sense of security when I put it on my dog before leaving the house for a walk. Honestly, I'm already considering which color to buy next!

Nice harness but size chart is inaccurate
My Crestie mix has an 18" chest measurement behind the legs, which is a medium according to the size chart. Even adjusted as tight as possible, the medium size was huge on my dog. The D rings were too large to accommodate the clip on a leash appropriate to her size. The chest portion of the harness being too big actually caused pressure on my dog's trachea when she pulled. I exchanged the medium for a small, which fits much better (and still has to be tightened quite a bit, so the chart is completely wrong). The D rings are a better size, and the chest portion is more proportate to her frame. She does not have trachea issues when wearing the correct size, which was the whole reason for purchasing this harness. My dog is extremely protective and strains to head off other pedestrians. We're working on her pulling issues, but she's pretty stubborn! Negatives: 1) The buckles are cheap plastic and have to be readjusted frequently because they slide around; 2) The finish on the D rings wears off immediately. At this price point, the parts should be higher quality. Overall I am fairly pleased with the small sized harness and will stick with it unless I find a better alternative.

Great fit for our bully
Our pocket bully is such a fit challenge-- a little dog with a big-dog chest and shoulders. Harnesses that are sized by weight alone are never a success and we were intrigued to find this design specifically for short-snouted dogs. Despite Tyke's diminutive height (he's maybe 15 inches at the shoulder), his chest measurement puts him in a size XL. And I mean he's just barely within the XL range. Having a 28-inch girth, he's at the top limit of the XL harness. With his chest, shoulders and legs as stout as bullies inherently are, I was concerned that the harness might be tight enough to chafe and pinch. But no, the fit is perfect. He has room for free movement in all directions and we may find we can snug it up just a bit as we work with it. The 'X' design at the chest gives his airway clear passage, and it looks pretty cool, too. And we're loving the step-in feature to put it on him. All in all, this is probably the only harness that will fit Tyke well and comfortably. It looks great, it's super easy to get him into and he'll wear it proudly. So glad we bought it!

Best design for brachycephalic dog breeds
This is the best harness I have found for my little Shih Tzu dogs. The step-in design makes it easy to put on--nothing has to go over their heads, which is a plus. The "X" portion of the harness sits low on the chest to keep pressure off the trachea so they don't have pressure in the wrong spot even if they pull on the lead. The mesh design dries quickly and is cooler than other harness types for summer wear. Gooby seems to have altered the design a bit, as the straps feel a bit wider than previous harnesses I have purchased in the same design. It's a little tricky getting the fit exactly right, but worth it to keep my dogs comfortable.

Perfect for my medium dog!
My cocker spaniel/king charles mix is prone to coughing from allergies and the traditional harness we had seemed to exacerbate the problem, especially when he pulled on walks. This harness has helped his issue! The harness sits lower on his chest and does not irritate or push on his throat whatsoever. It is roomier under the armpits so it doesn't give him that icky irritation that so many other harnesses do. This is great quality and has held up during many walks and lots of play. I will say the only issue I had, was that it is a little annoying to put on. It takes a bit of a learning curve with which direction must be the top and how best to get my dog inside of it. I found it is easier to slide it over one leg at a time, hold up the first side with your hand and clip with the other free hand at the top.

Quality has decreased, not the Gooby of years ago
Love the Gooby harnesses. Have purchased many over the last 13 years. They are hard-wearing and attractive. Based on Miss Lily's tolerance, comfortable. They work well with the build of the schipperke and don't cause them to gag and choke. New puppies in October and time to purchase new Goobies... This last go 'round of harnesses has not been good. I have purchased multiples for the newest schipperkes as the existing ones will not fit (too large). The ones purchased three years ago are still going strong, just too large. Within a week, two of them have fallen apart while walking the puppies. The harnesses just came apart. Where the black webbing meets the mesh. I have purchased the "step in" and "over the head" no choke. The puppies are only wearing them when out of their crates: headed outside for play or bathroom breaks. I don't like to leave them on 24x7. When the last one disintegrated, the puppy was otherwise occupied. I was able to swoop in and pick her up before she headed off for parts unknown. Now in search of a "no choke" harness that will be more secure.

Where is the pressure point on my dog's chest?
As a breeder and trainer of the Coton de Tulear, the placement of the chest strap is critical in relation to the dog's ability to wiggle out of the harness at any age. This is the only harness I recommend, because it does not cut across a small breed dog's windpipe and/or esophagus. The "X" cross sits lower on the chest. This feature means fewer matting of the coat of long-haired breeds. This harness is similar to a step-in harness, and much easier to keep in place or adjust when you close it on the dog's back. The fasteners are very good quality. Very comfortable. I would never get a harness with a mesh front as it traps the dog's heat with any breed that has a long or tight coat as well as cause matting. Sizing is a bit of a trick. I have 15 pound dogs, and they take a size medium. These are form-fitting, so they run a little small. When you are selecting a size, even though the harness is adjustable, consider if you are going to keep your dog with a short hair cut most of the time, or if you are going to keep a dog in its longer natural coat length. Ordering the next larger size, the fit will be sloppy. You want a snug adjustable fit............. Terry

Lovely little harness but to small for my dog

It doesn't lay flat on skin unfortunately.
It's only okay. It curls and does not lay flat, no matter how tight or loose it is. I'd not buy again but maybe it would work for bigger dogs.

Me encantan. Pero llego de otro color.
Amo este tipo de percheras para mis perritos. El único detalle es que la pedí morada y llego azul marino (más barata, por cierto).
