400ml Crystal Clear Spray Paint Aerosol - Matt

As I say in the description, I have used this spray both outdoors and indoors for a variety of mediums and it works perfectly. Do take care when spraying indoors as the smell is pungent, and when using outdoors do remember where the wind is blowing from before spraying.... trust me, you'll only ever get it wrong once. Health and safety out of the way, this is a good all-purpose sealer and varnish. I have used it over wood stain, acryllic paint indoors and outdoors, emulsion paint, watercolour paint and felt tip designs, and not ONCE did any of my artwork run or bleed, which can be a hazard with some sprays. I lightly applied one coat, left it a couple of mins, then did over again, until I had the required amount of coats - less for indoors more for outdoors. Thus far my artistic creation in woodstain and acryllic done outdoors and left outdoors and varnished outdoors has not run, flaked, chipped or peeled. And I did it two months ago, and have had fog, rain, winds, and hot hot sunshine on the item. Highly durable and very reccomended by this artist!

Not suitable for the application I bought it for - fixing a decal on a guitar headstock, I ordered it not realising it was acetone. Nothing in the description stands out to say it's acetone but to be fair the photo does show the back of the can and it does say acetone in the small print. It melted my decal - no biggy I have more printed and I'll use nitro instead. I used some scrap wood so no guitar was harmed in the making of this review. Lovely finish on the scrap wood which had had osmo oil applied already, so for furniture I think this will be just fine. 3 stars as I wasted 14 quid without knowing - but that's hardly fair on the product which looks great just don't think about it for decals, otherwise 5 stars as seems like good stuff. Factor out the 3 stars when considering this stuff, but just thought I'd put a warning for anyone else thinking of doing the same as me, when I'm looking at stuff on here I generally pay attention to 2 - 4 stars I think you get a more balanced review. **EDIT** Well it appears I may need to eat humble pie. Yes, the acetone melted my first decal - but really I should have thought about it before. Acetone is essentially nail varnish remover right? So how's that going to fly with fragile constructs like water slides? It's a recipe for disaster. However, however...you could call it serendipity, or stupidity or just plain luck, but while I was burying the headstock decal with nitrocellulose on my 2nd attempt I made a not so fatal mistake. I accidentally sprayed the Rustoleum onto the nitro finish instead of the next coat of nitro and to my surprise it covered much better and I got the matte finish I needed. At the time I was still sweating, so I hand sanded it off with 800 grit and carried on building up the nitro coats. The nitro spray wasn't covering well, I was getting orange peel, maybe the nozzle, maybe just as it was cold last week, but when I finished the nitro coats I gave it 2 coats of the 'secret weapon' (the Rustoleum) and its come out beyond my wildest dreams!. Not bad for a novice eh? This will form part of my guitar tools arsenal in the future!

This is a great product, like all Rustoleum products. I have used this on old concrete garden Gnomes that I have been restoring using emulsion paint. It goes on easily and effortlessly, it does have a slight sheen to it, but I put that down to the emulsion I am putting it on to and it is what I wanted, as it helps the rain and grime to run off better.. So far, so good, the ones I have returned to the garden have withstood the blazing sun, wind and rain and still look as good as the day I sprayed them after 4 months and hopefully will last a good few years. Great price from this supplier as well, cheapest any where.. I can't recommend this product highly enough.

I bought this to help prevent the paint on my DIY acrylic-painted outdoor coir doormat from rubbing off when we step on it and wipe our shoes. It lasted for about a month. Also, be careful what surface you spray this near. Although it goes on clear on the coir mat, the residue left on my concrete patio turned white after spraying and was incredibly difficult to scrub off.
