Hoping for a family friendly gift option...** A: Bare pages! Every single one of ‘em! 100 paper porn! Probably not the best choice as a family friend gift option... but then again... why not? You can always cover the pages with black charcoal sketches and make it family friendly! **Q: do you have to be good at drawing?** A: Nope! But filling these with drawings, especially drawing things you can see in front of you, will slowly make you good at drawing. personally Strathmore makes my favorite sketch paper. Something about its texture and how it picks up your pencil/ink is just "right" to me. **Q: will pens bleed through these paper pads** A: I actually have not tried pens on the sketch pad , but I can say that the sheets are pretty thick and you might not encounter that problem. **Q: This pad is good enough for watercolors?** A: No, this is not the right type of paper for watercolor. You'll want to look for a book/pad with 140 lb. watercolor paper. If the artist doesn't paint too "wet" you can also look at the Mixed Media sketchbooks. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality paper *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 19 April 2022* I'm using this sketchbook to learn to sketch with inks and markers. The tone is beautiful, and the paper feels good and on the rough side. It's an A5 size, and the coil is good. I feel it will be good for pencils and coloured pencils, not so sure about watercolour. Warm grey markers look good on the tone. This is not on the book, but I wish I knew this when I bought it:- The paper is thick-ish, but both markers and pens like the Staedtler lumocolor would bleed through and show on the other side of the paper. The bleed isn't massive, but still noticeable. Shouldn't be terrible for practicing lines, but you don't want this type of bleed on your good drawings.- The Staedtler fine liner 0.3 (don't have thicker ones) struggles with the ink flow because of the roughness of the paper. I am still using them though, but the line gets breaky sometimes. Maybe a 0.5 would fare better! The 0.3 works great on smoother paper. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 2 July 2025* The paper is of excellent quality and quite suitable for sketching. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great delivery and good product quality. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 9 September 2025* Products were of high quality.very happy. ## Frequently Bought Together - Strathmore 400 Series Sketch Pad, Toned Tan, 5.5x8.5 inch, 50 Sheets - Artist Sketchbook for Drawing, Illustration, Art Class Students - Strathmore 400 Series Sketch Pad, Toned Gray, 11x14 inch, 24 Sheets - Artist Sketchbook for Drawing, Illustration, Art Class Students - Strathmore 400 Series Sketch Pad, Toned Blue, 11x14 inch, 24 Sheets - Artist Sketchbook for Drawing, Illustration, Art Class Students --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.it/products/47986344-toned-tan-sketch-pad-5-5x8-5](https://www.desertcart.it/products/47986344-toned-tan-sketch-pad-5-5x8-5) --- *Product available on Desertcart Italy* *Store origin: IT* *Last updated: 2026-10-01*
