Cross Bailey AT0452-7 Refillable Plastic Ballpoint Pen with Polished Chrome Appointments, Medium Point, includes Premium Gift Box and Black Cartridge, 1 Pack, Black Lacquer

I bought one of these pens for my wife and was so impressed with is, I bought one for myself. A well made ballpoint pen with a brass skeleton encased in a smooth plastic barrel skin which you rotate to reveal/retract the nib. It is a well balanced pen and the shape, thickness of the barrel and heft inspires confidence when writing. Ink coverage is even and the writing action smooth. To replace the ink you have to separate the barrel from the top of the pen (the part which holds the clip) by pulling the two parts away from each other in a smooth but reassuringly resistant action, this reveals the top of the refill (black plastic) which you unscrew from the silver-coloured metal housing, insert the refill and reverse the action to put the pen back together. The pen deserves 5 stars, but there is one (small) thing which I think would make it even better: the word CROSS is stamped on the clip and if you are right-handed it reads CROSS when writing. However, if you are left-handed, as I am, it reads CROSS upside-down. I wrote to Cross suggesting they stamped their clips with the word CROSS, vertically, but was told it is complicated changing the template. A small point but minor improvements are improvements. I still give it 5 stars.

This is a really beautiful pen and is fully deserving of five stars. My only quibble is regarding the instruction sheet that comes with it. The print is very small, in a number of languages and covering a range of products, not just this one. Looking at the pen, and ignoring the instructions, it is pretty clear what you have to do to change the refill and replace it with a new one, but it wasn't that easy! The old one didn't want to budge and I was on the point of using a pair of pliers to get it out when it finally decided to unscrew. What should have taken a few seconds took about ten minutes because the refill was screwed in so tight and I didn't want to risk damaging the pen. Apart from that the pen is brilliant!

Received this pen as a gift for my birthday and have been so impressed with it I have subsequently bought 2 as gifts myself. Over the years I have had some very expensive top of the range pens and can honestly say that this pen is far better to write with , looks far better and also gets a lot more compliments from business associates due to the quality. Would recommend this pen 100% over any other.

Lovely, lovely pen. Feels great in the hand and is well-balanced. Looks fantastic. The picture doesn't do it justice. Why not 5 stars you may ask? Well... that is because of the ink cartridge. The ink does not flow brilliantly. It says 'Cross' on it, so I assume it is authentic, but it writes very patchily. It's like the paper has grease on it all the time (this is what I first thought). On trying a cheap generic refill... this worked fine, and so no harm done. But I have found with the past few Cross pens I have ordered from Amazon, that the refills are very poor quality. Cross obviously do great pens, but I'd advise anyone to stock up on a few generic refills before you buy one.

Having sadly lost my last Cross biro, I ordered this as a replacement. They just feel so much nicer than ordinary pens and worth every penny. This one is very slightly slimmer with a finer writing point but still as good. Recommended but make sure your inside pocket is done up so it won’t fall out!

I purchased this model pen appx 10-12 years ago and I still have it. Use it every day in work but I decided to order another for my home office. Very comfortable in hand, writes well. Solid feel and great quality.

Just received this pen. Have used the well known gold plated everyday . I use it for writing my charts. The is thicker but easy to adjust to. Received 2 refills, in the initial box.. Well presented. For the price and the presentation , this would make a tremendous gift for any occasion. Excited to add it to my collection of top notch cross pens. Using a beautiful pen may seem like not a big deal to some,but it makes every chart I write like of work of art. Impressed as you can tell. Keep up the quality cross. Never been disappointed . Dr. E.
