how to calibrate the heater temperature ?

It should come pre-calibrated out of the box. Just plug n play setup.

Will it work in a sump setup?

Yes, it would make a great sump heater.

I have had my 1000w heater in my tank for almost 3 months. Today the controller went dark with a faint flashing light. Does not work what can I do?

Hello, hygger offer one year warranty against any defects, if any problem, please feel free to contact me.

Would 800 watt be too big for 75 galloon tank with 29 gallon sump ? I undertsand it's a lot more than needed but I intend to upgrade to a 180 soon.

I have my 800w in a 75g without any problem. Well, the only thing is, that you must turn it off when doing water change, because at have tank start overheating.
