Interplay Tie Die Kit

This was a gift for my daughter's birthday and she couldn't be more delighted. As the description says, there are four colours in the package. What it doesnt say is how simple it is to use. I was concerned that it may be a tedious, messy process but how wrong I was! The instructions are simple and easy to understand. Basically, there are four plastic bottles with the colour powder inside and you just open the tops and add water, give a little shake to mix. Next you dampen the item you want to dye, shape or tie it how you wish with the included elastics and then you just squirt the colour where you wish. There is a colourful instruction booklet included to show you different ways of tying your items to get the different effects. Then you leave it in a plastic bag for a few hours, rinse and give it a quick detergentless wash in the machine. Et voila, your item is ready. My daughter did this all in a few hours and by the evening she had a gorgeous tie dye sleep shirt. It has made her day! And, whereas I was worried that it may transfer to other fabrics, I needn't have been - no transfer. She has dyed 2 tshirts, 2 pairs of socks and a bag so far with this box and she still have some left. The colours are beautifully vibrant and we'll definitely be ordering more in the future. I cannot recommend it enough!

Excellent kit, I bought it for my daughters age 7 and 10 with a tote bag each and 2 tops each in their sizes, the dye worked perfect on the items and make some beautiful designs, which they have worn many times already. I read a previous customer review which helped me get organised, thank you, the review explained that the kit can go very far, and can tie dye quite a few items, which it did, 2 bags, 4 tops, I would say we probably could have done another item too. When making up the dye the kit explains that you have 45 minutes to put the dye on the clothing before the colour can start to fade, so make sure you have all your items ready, we filled about 3/4 of each the bottles with water, 1/2 in the yellow, and the colours were very vibrant. Excellent kit, would definitely buy again, it was a nice activity to do with my girls.

Easy enough to use and I managed to do this quickly and my t shirts look great and still have colour in them after a few washes. My best advice is to read all of the feedback on here as well as to have a look at a few tutorials online before you use or you buy for kids - the booklet that comes with this does have ideas about what you need to do for different designs which is great - I did roughly about 10 adult t shirts and I ran out of rubber bands that the pack provided to do the designs I wanted so I would recommend maybe buying some more rubber bands depending on how much you want to dye as well as what designs you want because some take more rubber bands than others. Also, of course the longer you leave the colour to soak into the t shirt the better the colour will be and remember DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS DO IT ON YOUR FAVOURITE CARPET, RUG, PATIO AREA OR EVEN WOODEN FLOOR CAUSE IT WILL STAIN!!! Get some bin bags and place them on grass is my best advice because even when I did it on the outside patio it still stained a bit of blue on it (until a week of rain washed it away - it did go after a while - luckily) . But great product ! Colour is still there after buying this months ago :)

After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase this for my daughter to do with her best friend as a half term activity. As some other reviews have mentioned, the dye is very generous. Without watering down the colours we were able to dye 10 pairs of socks, 2 short sleeved T-shirts, 2 long sleeved T-shirts, 4 pillowcases, and 2 plus size ladies vest tops! We had plenty of the mix and even through a bit away. The kit is perfect for beginners and contains everything you need. There are only 2 pairs of gloves so have more on hand (ha!) if you want to help as my husband and I are both stained on the hands now. We put bin liners down on the surfaces and bagged all the items as they were done. It was a lot of fun and we are looking forward to the results!

excellent kit, we tie dyed 4 t-shirts. 2 in 7-8 and 2 in 12 to 13. Wish we had of ought double as it was easy and great fun and the results were really good. Both girls created stunning t-shirts and enjoyed themselves for half an hour. came with 2 sets of gloves so ideal for a child and adult helping or in my case 2 children. we put the t-shirts in sandwich bags for 8 hours and then washed them. the leftover dye which is more than half is only for the bin as its good for 45 minutes once mixed.

Ok the colours are good and strong and do take very well however this really is just a box a colours with not enough bands to do enough tie die to use up the colours. Also when the colours are made up they have to be used straight away so we found ourselves dashing around trying to find things to dye. We dyed far more than the box said. So I would recommend you prepare yourself with lots of things to dye (t-shirts, pillow cases etc). Get lots of elastic bands, they do not supply enough. Rubber gloves for hands and cover the ground (do it outside) this dye stains everything including patios slabs... It is a one use box so be prepared to use it all up.
