I can't speak to how it works for men's shaving needs, but as a replacement for overpriced, cheaply made, constantly-clogging and poor-performing women's razors, this thing is so far phenomenal. I'd long since gotten fed up with the cartridge racket, and for a while now have been using ordinary disposables because, if I'm going to get a lousy shave anyway, I might as well pay less for it. The recommendation to try a safety razor has turned out to be quite the game-changer.First off: it looks fantastic. The lined wooden box is a nice touch, and feels sturdy. The razor itself has a great weight and feel, and the handle truly is non-slip, including while wet. The pieces fit flawlessly, and loading up the blade is a breeze. (I've paired mine with Astra Superior Platinum blades).As for the most important part: my very first try with this thing resulted in the closest shave I've had in years - maybe ever. I really expected more of a learning curve! (Do read some instructions though, if you're new to this type like I was. There's no need to put any extra pressure on the razor: its own weight does the job beautifully.) The length is pretty close to my old disposables, which made the transition that much easier. The results are everything I'd hoped: a better, longer-lasting shave with zero irritation, from a razor that's both a pleasure to use, and looks fantastic. Goodbye, chintzy plastic!At this point the one place I see room for improvement is the finish on the box: it isn't painted on all that well and had an odd cloudiness around the logo, taking away just a bit from the first impression, but I did manage to polish that away (see photos). That's pretty minor, though. The razor itself is art. I've ordered two more for gifts, and if the recipients like them as much as I do, they should be quite a hit. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Form and function *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2018* I started using a DE razor about a year ago when I was tired of paying ridiculous amounts of money on 3 and 4 blade cartridges that always caused razor burn no matter what the marketing said. So I switched to a DE safety blade with a standard metal handle and butterfly closure. I was very happy with the switch, but the handle was less ergonomic than I would have liked. Also, the butterfly closure was opened by spinning a screw at the bottom of the handle, which I found to be occasionally problematic when trying to shave and my hand would rest on this screw and sometimes loosen the closure.So I started looking for other options and came across this. I love the ergonomic design which is comfortable to hold and since it is made of wood, it does not get as slick in the shower as metal. The color is beautiful too. Having read some other reviews, I decided to rub a little coconut oil into the wood and let it sit for about a day before using, to try to protect the color and the wood from moisture and I plan on doing this occasionally as a preventative measure.I have only been using it for about a week, but I am very pleased so far and will update in the future with how well this holds up. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Really nice, wood needs to be sealed. *by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2018* I started using double edge razors about 3 years ago as a way to save money. I bought my fiancé this since her butterfly DE broke. I definitely recommend putting a few coats of wood seal on this before using. There are a few reviews saying that the wood dries out & starts to splinter after a few uses. My fiancé loves this razor. It's different from the normal metal handle & we'll always be able to tell them apart. I recommend everyone get one of these DE razors.
