Turns out I trusted this device to store 5tb of data as long term. But kept my other 20tb of data on my SSD drives, but the low storage space wasn't worth it. Bought this 12tb drive to keep 2 to 3 SSD spaces available. I backed up 10tb and another 5TB onto my online storages(I have 20tb in total online space) but was limited in space(I do movies and porductions) usually a raid Drive is the best storage. But I have no space or time for that. Wanted convenient and fast storage options. Big mistake. My drive died 8 months into operations and I lost 5tb worth of data. I sent this off to a HDD disk repair service and they are charging me an arm and a leg. The drive suddenly stopped operations after a quick light on and failure to stay awake options as I was trying to back up the backup drive back onto my portable storage when I noticed it sound like failures and constantly turning off access via PC. I check health of all my devices daily. Daily, there was no Checksum errors of faulty hard drive, health was at 90% so I knew it was hardware motors that were soon to fail.
