I bought 3 of these to replace my 3 Homber aquarium light transformer plugs. The ones that came from Homeber were not UL listed and 5 of them have failed. The company kept sending me replacements because of the 2 year warranty but now the Homeber aquarium light is not listed anymore on Amazon. I love these lights so I decided to give these transformer plugs a try to see if it's just faulty plugs or faulty lights taking out the plugs. I have 3 Marineland lights that are still working since 8/6/13 and I never had a problem with them. So I'm hoping this Amamax transformer plugs /Homeber aquarium light combination works for a good long time just like my Marineland lights. I will update this review soon if something fails but much later if it is working well. So for now, no news means good news. I figured a lot of others went through the same issues with the Homeber aquarium lights as I did and I hope this helps people, especially those that are in my situation. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty decent *by D***R on Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2018* I've bought a few of these to have some decent 12v power supplies around the shop. A couple are running Odroid HomeCloud 2 NAS devices just fine - with 4tb drives on them, one is running an old 7" 24v server rack fan at half voltage/half speed to ventilate a crawl space, and other sundry uses. They seem pretty good, don't waste power, don't get hot at least the way I'm using them. As an off grid solar guy, efficiency matters and these are decent compared to some other options out there. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ When purchasing an AC adapter it is best to purchase more current than you think you will ... *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2015* This adapter is thin and delivers the power I need without getting hot. When purchasing an AC adapter it is best to purchase more current than you think you will need. Consider the manufacturers current rating as the absolute maximum, but not the current you would normally run it at. Think of it like an auto manufacturers engine horse power rating. You might get a maximum of 200HP from an engine with the gas pedal pushed all the way to the floor, but you can't drive your car like that 100% of the time and expect the engine/transmission to last a long time. It's the same principle with power adapters. I usually derate by 50% so that the normal current delivered by this adapter is 1A with a 2A surge when needed. Also, the output voltage of a power supply should be measured when attached to a load. Without a load, a volt meter may give a reading that is much higher or much lower than the rated output voltage. For inexpensive power supplies like this, it is not unusual for the output voltage under load to vary as much is +- 5% of the nominal manufacturers specification of 12V. So don't be surprised if you see between 11.4V and 12.6V out of this adapter. Well designed electronic equipment that accepts 12V will compensate for this variance and work without problems.
