It can control any colored Hue bulb (even ceiling) but they aren't "gradient" like the light strip (which can carry multiple colors at once)

It appears the hue sync app is also available for mac (per your download site). will this product work with a mac?

There is hue play app you can download which sync your light to what is on your screen.
