Revolver Special Edition[LP]

This review is for the vinyl version of the 2022 remix on vinyl. The remix by Giles Martin is amazing to my ears. I heard it first on a 24-bit stream but like it even better on vinyl. My 5-star review is for the remix and the sound of the vinyl. However, I'm sorry to report that the pressings I received all were flawed. I tried three different copies and gave up. Two of the three were severely warped, one bad enough to cause the stylus of my Ortofon Blue to skip on "Good Day Sunshine". Another was badly off center on side one. The other issues were flaws that created loud repeated pops and noise. You could see in the vinyl that there were issues and sure enough you could hear.it. I'll still seek out a copy but not sure where to obtain one.

REVOLVER is my favorite Beatles' album, and the greatest rock record of the sixties. You should already know that. It changed how rock music was written and recorded. What you want to know is how's the quality of this vinyl pressing, right? I'm thrilled with it. Paul's bass booms as George Martin likely hoped way back in 1966. All of the recording techniques and tricks, from playing everything faster or slower or even backwards, is more prominent on this modern pressing. The vinyl weight is what you expect for this price point (which is pretty fair, actually) and if you just own the most innovative album in the history of pop music on CD or download, here's your chance to enjoy it as intended.

I received this Giles Martin remaster of Revolver as an Amazon album of the month. I have owned a few copies of this record over the years. This one is one of the best versions I have heard. I cannot say that it is enormously different than the last stereo remaster, but it sounds clearer. Small details are sharper. The midrange sounds more present. I still prefer the 2014 mono mix, but for a stereo mix I think this is as good as it has gotten. I have to say this is a pleasant surprise, too, because I loathe the Giles Martin version of Let It Be. I am happy to recommend this version of Revolver. I think every rock and roll fan should have a copy, anyway - if you haven't been directly influenced by it, the musicians you love probably were influenced by it. I would also like to say that the copy I have is flat, clean and silent. It is a very well pressed record. This is no longer a standard to take for granted, so I like to mention when things appear to have been done properly.

Blows away all previous versions by a large margin including the 2009 reissues!!!!! Giles has done another great job!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!! I'm what some may call an audiophile and my audio system exploits everything good . . . and bad and thankfully it is all good for this remastering. The stereo mixes have been completely redone and now the LP sounds like it should!! Lead vocals are now centered and the harmonies are much louder which is all good! Moreover the remixes now provide a much better soundstage and sounds much fuller. The 'presence' boost, most evident in the original FP I own, and to a lesser degree with the 2009 reissues has been attenuated. I believe Giles also employed a 'de-esser' to get rid of sibilance which was most annoying in the original release and this new remastering has made the original and 2009 release almost unplayable by comparison. Giles has done a masterful job - I can't wait until he does the same to Rubber Soul and the early recordings!!!

Plays good, sounds great. I did clean before playing to clean any unwanted particles on the the vinyl.

I am so over lousy vinyl pressings. I am also so over engaging with Amazon to remedy the issue. It's not so much a time thing but I have had so many ordinary records I feel like it's me committing some crime by wanting a faulty record dealt with. I actually don't like having to take time to go through the issue again or to repackaged or to return it to the post office. The nearest collection point is a 150 km journey. It costs a lot to buy vinyl. The quality does not reflect the relative cost. It's about time record companys looked after their customers and actually their artists too. I wished I knew before hand where this amazing record was manufactured as I would probably have avoid it because the amount of records I have had with flaws or just record scuffs or dust or residual paper is huge. This one has a pressing flaw right at the very end of side one. Not the end of the world but it is audible and it shouldn't be there. Sadly I can't be bothered to engage with Amazon to remedy it.

I had heard so many complaints about the pressing quality of this album on Amazon, I delayed buying it. But when the price suddenly dropped so much I figure it's at the best price it'll ever be, I took the chance. Thank you Amazon notifications! When I first put the disk on my turntable, there was a lot of small white particles on it, but they were easily removed with a good record brush. Just dust, really. It's completely flat with no visible flaws and no audio problems at all. The only flaw is that the centre hole is too small, and I had to force it down onto the spindle. It did finally seat properly. In fact after playing both sides, it already seems less of a problem. It's just a hair-width of extraneous soft vinyl, and it might go away with use. I've read that's easily fixed with a 7.3mm drill bit, turned BY HAND to pick off any extraneous vinyl. DON'T EVEN THINK OF USING A POWER DRILL. You're just removing tiny flashings of vinyl that weren't cleaned at the factory. I've also been advised by an expert that a few turns with an American #2 pencil can do the trick. And if you're fanatical about tools, there is a tool made specifically for the job, the Turntable Lab stable 33.33. It's over $50 bucks on Amazon US and Canada, at least. Anyhow, I thought of giving the record a 4-star rating, because of the centre hole problem, but it really hasn't lessened my enjoyment. Five stars - the music is simply great. Other reviewers have highlighted pressing problems by Optimal Media of Germany at their GZ Media pressing plant in Czechia, named in a small sticker on the back. My copy doesn't have the sticker that lists them; in fact my copy is by Parlophone, a German record company founded in the late 19th century, whose UK subsidiary pioneered the first releases by the Beatles, Cilla Black, Billy J. Kramer, the Fourmost, and the Hollies. Seems like this recording has returned to the beginning, and the problems hopefully are over. There's absolutely nothing in the sleeve but the record itself. None of the usual photos and comments to enhance the experience. Not a problem; the music speaks for itself. They were thinking ahead to when they'd devote most of their time in the studio, and apparently they experimented with a few studio enhancements, but for the most part it's the kind of performance they would have liked to have given, if the screaming fans had let them. There's no other performers or strange studio effects. With Giles Martin's brilliant 2022 remix, it really sounds like the four of them on a stage, singing together and playing one instrument each. Some reviewers call it their best album ever, better than Sgt. Pepper. I've got ALL their albums; Revolver completes the set, and I can't really argue with that! If, like me, you've been waiting to buy this record, it seems like the time has come.
