Setting up the controller to work with your specific tool requires a lot of user input. Even after reading the manual I had questions. I found very little information on the Internet. Fortunately, the manufacturer provides outstanding customer service. The technician was prompt to reply to my emails and provided clear responses to my questions. Once through the process, the manual makes sense. Though it has a few quirks, the controller functions as needed for a four axis mill. The main quirk is the way the controller displays axis position when applying backlash compensation. Other programs when applying backlash compensation, display the program axis position. This controller displays programmed axis position plus backlash. For example. If the axis is moved from zero to 1 inch, and backlash compensation is 0.003, the display shows a position of 1.003. Another quirk is that the controller does not always update files read from the thumb drive. For example. You have a file named "Square". The code is written to mill a one inch square. You run the code and then edit the code to mill a two inch square. You save the file using the same file name, reinsert the thumb drive, select the same file name, press "Edit" to view the code. The code may or may not be the updated coordinates. Always check the code before running the program. The other thing to be aware of is that the controller has more capabilities than covered in the manual. It can process logic commands and the associated math functions. I like the controller and would buy another if needed, but I deducted 1 star for the quirks.

The unit has some good features but all of the features don't work reliably. For example the unit was communicating with the VFD properly then started shutting off before the end of a project. That is unacceptable. Another example of this unit is homing function - it works on two of the axis but not on the third. I'm glad I put insurance on this purchase; a claim is in process. Not a satisfactory product.

The first unit I bought had a MPG that failed. I sent it back and the second one failed. They appear to have very bad quality control. Maybe that’s why they are discounted
