I've had it for years, and the pages haven't turned yellow as an old book would; they are still white and beautiful. The covers are still bright, shiny, and glossy. It's a beautiful account of her childhood in Jamaica, her move to America, her relationships, and her career. She told us all. I love it. Review: ForEver SnP - I am very bias because I LOVE Salt n Pepa!!!! I grew up on their music n I still listen to their classics, I was too young in the 80's and 90's to attend concerts, But they began touring a few years ago and as a women I ran to see them more than once. I don't know why it took me so long to get the book but I am glad I did. First It is very conversational, it's like Pep is talking to me, which I love because she and Salt are my aunts in my head so..... I love how candid Pep was as she mentioned the things she has experienced throughout her life. I truly felt like I was having a conversation with one of my favorite aunts!!! She shared her heart and I truly was encouraged by her journey to find love with self and wait for love. What truly resonated was when she said "can to tell another woman that the man you're with is worth being with? If you say no, then he is not worth being with you" I had never heard assessing my mates worth for me in this manner, but it makes so much sense thanks Pep!!!! I truly got that she was concened about me as a reader as she shared her heartaches and heartbreaks and encouraged one to not go through what she went through!!! This was a quick read for me and I loved the SnP ride she took us on with the various concerts and songs I love still this day!!!! Loved it, thanks!!'nn

Enjoyed reading her journey
I saw that this book wasn't available until Aug 26th. Well, I pre-ordered it from Amazon and was pleasantly surprised to receive it on the 19th. This book was a quick read and I finished it in 2 days. Overall, I liked the book. Pepa starts her story from about the age of 5 and it ends with her in the present. In between that time period, Pepa goes through ALOT with the things she has experienced. I don't want to give things away, but I emphasize ALOT based on here relationships with males, particularly her relationship with Treach of Naughty by Nature. When they divorced, I never knew why, but in this book, she reveals what she went through and why their relationship just had to end. As a matter of fact, I had to skip parts of the chapters that dealt with him because it was too much. I am happy she left, for her and her children's good. It is a powerful testimony. As for the rest of Pepa's story, you learn about her family, childhood, rise to fame, her gifts and curses, her and Cheryl's relationship as Salt N Pepa and as friends. In the end, you learn how Pepa has grown and takes some responsibility for her life experiences and how she knows to make better choices for herself. She has learned her true worth and to not accept less. I strongly feel that this book could help other girls and women who have had similar experiences. I was pleased with the book and would recommend it. I take off 1 star because there are times in the book where a story would veer off and not bring closure to that story until later. Also, the events didn't seem to be in order at times.

Well Let's Talk About Pep then....
I saw Salt-n-Pepa in the mid 90s when they toured with R.Kelly, and they were fit and in shape. The television made them look bigger(it seemed) because when I saw them in person, their bodies were on point. It was a bad ass concert, by the way. I loved Pep openness in the book. I learned a lot of things that I didn't know about Sandy and Cheryl(Salt). What I loved most about the book is how it relates to my personal life, and the fact that she and I were going through the same thing with men at the same time at one point of our lives. What the relationships and mistakes taught us is that no matter what life throws at you, keep pushing. I would recommend the book because I knew EVERY artist she spoke of in her book. The only con to the book is that Pep didn't use dates on her events in life. I would have liked to know the year at least to keep from getting mixed up. Overall good book and I read it within a day because she kept the pages turning.

A Salt-n-Pepa Fan Through and Through
I just finished the book and I thought it was excellent. I felt bad for Pepa and everything she went through. No person should have to endure that much pain but she rose above it all and came out of it a better person. I knew about her relationship with Treach and about the abuse but to read and learn about everything he did to her and put her through took my breath away. I am glad she was able to leave him, that's an inspiration for most of the women out here that is in that position. I have always respected her and admired her strength, but to read her book made me look at her in a different light. She is the true definition of a survivor. This is definitely a must read, especially if you are a fan of Pep.

So on the point and with such a pace the author took me to a world, that is very far away from mine. I love everything about this book, the language, the way, the author cuts straight to the point, the insights into the psychology of abuse, its origins and how people handle it, human logic with which humans process their environmental influences. I have the feeling I understand a bit more of what is happening to some people and makes me feel different about behaviour that from the outside looks irrational. Wow. I just love the book. Thanks!

Sandra Denton truly is a special lady indeed. This isn't just a celebrity memoir. There's so much more to her than meets the eye. You really felt like you were listening to Pep tell her story- the book was highly entertaining, humorous and revealing all at the same time (put it this way- I will never look at her ex-husband Treach from the group Naughty by Nature in the same way again). You can see how her story intertwines with the stories of other celebrities such as Lisa Left Eye, Martin (the comedian) and Chris Reid and Chris Martin from the 80s group Kid N Play. It gives you a glimpse of the industry which acts as a backdrop in addition to showing how growing up in her big and sometimes dysfunctional family shaped her (loved the reference to the chameleons). She also talks about what she calls her "gifts"- which is the first time I'm hearing that she has them. Her escapades are truly amazing...this woman has been through a lot. And is better for being able to tell her story. I've always seen Salt N Pepa as a stand out group and loved them since I was a little girl. Not only do I love their style and music but look up to them as intelligent and strong women. This book did not disappoint and after reading it, I respect her even more.
