The coffee pucks are more compact and can be ejected in one piece without swirling around. With a filter fineness of 150 microns, this shower screen promotes full extraction of your coffee grounds. 1.7mm (most popular) or 1mm thickness? It is recommended to choose a thickness of 1.7 mm when the coffee grinding dose is normal. This does not affect normal extraction. If the coffee grinder dose is larger and very fine, it is recommended to choose a thickness of 1 mm puck strainer Extended selection: As the fibre density of dark roast beans is higher than with light/medium roasting, the volume of dark roast beans is higher than with light/medium roasting. **Q: I have a breville 920xl.  i just received the screen  and it fits in the portafilter but then i cannot move it to lock it in place. thoughts/advice?**
A: Sounds like you are too full in the basket, the puck screen might be hitting the shower head, if you have a bigger basket try that with your current dose otherwise you may have to reduce your dose of coffee to allow the puck room to clear the brew head screen.

**Q: What am I doing wrong? The extraction is slower and coffee is thin with no crema. perfect w/o the screen**
A: If your screen is fairly new, then increase the coffee dose. I actually reduced my dose by 3.5 grams when I started using the screen, so that's probably not the soltion. If the screen is older than 6 months, it may be clogged, and need to be replaced. Blow against the screen to see if air easily passes through it. A clogged filter will require a very long shot-time. I've seen 50-60 seconds. The resulting shot was on the weak side.

**Q: Does it smell?**
A: Well, it smells of coffee once it’s used, but it is quite easy to clean. Given that it is made of solid metal mesh, it has no particular smell.

**Q: 100microns vs 150microns. Is any better?**
A: Usually 150 better
