Pimsleurยฎ equals success. Just one 30-minute lesson a day gets you speaking and understanding like no other program. This course includes Lessons 1-16 from the Haitian Creole Level 1 program - 8 hours of audio-only effective language learning with real-life spoken practice sessions. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons is included in each lesson. Topics include: greetings, numbers, meals, shopping, telling time, scheduling activities, and asking and giving directions. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension, and on learning to speak Haitian Creole. Readings begin in Lesson 11 The Haitian Creole Language Haitian Creole is one of the two official languages of Haiti, along with French. It is a French-based creole heavily influenced by West African languages as well as Portuguese, Spanish and the indigenous Caribbean language of Taรญno. Pimsleur's Haitian Creole teaches the standard dialect spoken in and around the central district and the capital, Port-au-Prince. Tech Talk - CDs are formatted for playing in all CD players, including car players, and users can copy files for use in iTunes or Windows Media Player. Review: Fantastic Auditory Learning Tool - I found this audio program to be the most effective of anything I've ever used for learning a foreign language. I've used classroom based, instructor lead curriculum for both French and German and then the other popular picture based program for Spanish. This by far was the easiest to learn and to retain. I was able to carry on and understand basic conversations, in country, after getting only half-way through this program before leaving. If you are an auditory learner, then you will likely find this product to be very effective. Review: ๐ - Good

Excellent introduction to conversation
I'm learning incredibly well. The program is well put together, and if you follow their suggestions (do at least a lesson per day, practice using Creole during your everyday day where you can, etc - my husband is getting sick of me asking, "ou ta renmen manje yonbagay?") you'll gain competence fast. My main complaint is that they actively discourage you from using any written materials, and since I'm primarily a visual learner, that is a bit of a problem. I've started using Google Translate to find out the spelling of some of the phrases, because with the French-influenced rolled Rs and other unfamiliar consonants, I've had some trouble figuring out what sounds they are saying. For example, the word for "now." One of the speakers pronounces is "coon-YAY-ah" and the other pronounces is "cool-YAY-ah." I couldn't figure out whether it was an L or an N until I looked it up, and the word is "kounye a." So I think one of them pronounces the N and the other just flips it, making it sound like there's an L there. If you're an auditory learner this is a very complete tool. Just be prepared to do some extra work if you are a visual learner like me!

The Pimsleur method works.
Buy what you can from here then buy from the site to continue. Trust me! Pimsleurโs method really does work to teach you the language in only short daily amounts of time. I can definitely speak and understand much more than I could and that was really only about 5-6 lessons in.

I love this CD set
I love this CD set! I am an adult who has never had much luck learning other languages, but this makes it very easy! I just put in the CD while I drive to and from work, and after each 30 minute segment I have a few new phrases down pat. After just a couple of hours, I was annoying my Wife by speaking some basic phrases to her :-) Of course, It is very basic, and by design doesn't cover spelling or grammar rules. It is however, good enough to get by for my upcoming mission trip, and to give me confidence that I can still learn a new language. If you'll be moving there, or doing business, you might want something more advanced. Yes, there are things that could be better (like an MP3 format), or more depth, but for the money I am extremely pleased.

Same product as Basic
It is a good way to get into the language, however I was disappointed to learn when I got the CD that most of this is the same thing as the basic Haitian Creole course from Pimsleur. This CD set has 16 lessons and the first 10 are the same exact lessons as the Basic Haitian Creole course from Pimsleur. It would be nice if Pimsleur made that clear so that people don't waste their money purchasing the same thing twice.

Easy to Listen & Learn
I use this in the car while driving to work. I love it! Starts out very basic and keeps growing the vocabulary while repeating what you've already learned to reinforce it.

Haitian Creole
Very helpful in learning a very difficult language. The lessons are good at building on each other, allowing conversational aspects to take place. Now ready for the nest series.

Very useful
Very good way to learn Haitian creole. I bought this pack in preparation of my trip to Haiti, and although I speak French it did help me get the pronunciation and tone right. It gave me confidence to speak creole during my trip and listening to the CDs did pay (although I found the sentences a bit too repetitive sometimes)...:)
