These Hooks are made from steel and nickel plated. They are very small. Great for hanging small things like jewelry or string lights. The half inch measurement is made by measuring what sticks out after the hook is screwed in to a substrate. The threaded stem is not included when the manufacturer references the size. These were perfect for adding extra hooks to a key rack... worked perfectly!

I used these hooks to make a jewelry shelf and they were just what I needed. I do recommend wearing gloves or having a cloth or something between your fingers and the hooks as you screw them in, just because they're so small and your fingers will be hurting after a couple of them.
