Develop real-time practical DApps using Ethereum and JavaScript Key Features: Create powerful, end-to-end applications for Blockchain using Ethereum Write your first program using the Solidity programming language Change the way you think and design your applications by using the all new database-Blockchain Book Description: Blockchain is a decentralized ledger that maintains a continuously growing list of data records that are secured from tampering and revision. Every user is allowed to connect to the network, send new transactions to it, verify transactions, and create new blocks, making it permission-less. This book will teach you what blockchain is, how it maintains data integrity, and how to create real-world blockchain projects using Ethereum. With interesting real-world projects, you will learn how to write smart contracts which run exactly as programmed without any chance of fraud, censorship, or third-party interference, and build end-to-e applications for blockchain. You will learn about concepts such as cryptography in cryptocurrencies, ether security, mining, smart contracts, solidity, and more. You will also learn about web sockets, various API services for Ethereum, and much more. The blockchain is the main technical innovation of bitcoin, where it serves as the public ledger for bitcoin transactions. What You Will Learn: Walk through the basics of the blockchain technology Implement blockchain's technology and its features, and see what can be achieved using them Build DApps using Solidity and Web3.js Understand the geth command and cryptography Create Ethereum wallets Explore consortium blockchain Who this book is for: This book is for JavaScript developers who now want to create tamper-proof data (and transaction) applications using Blockchain and Ethereum. Those who are interested in cryptocurrencies and the logic and database empowering it will find this book extremely useful. Review: Great book so far - The book so far is what I hoped it to be and I’m only half way through. Some topics have brief explanations and you must follow the provided link for more and if one isn’t listed search Google. I’m reading on mobile device at times but I recommend going band and follow the code examples. You can’t progress into the next chapter or fully understand what’s happening without doing so. Review: Good Technical Hands On Coding Book - pleasantly surprised at the contents of the book. I would recommend this to a technical audience who are looking for learning how to program and coding experience from this book. If you are looking for broad conceptual overview then you should consider other books and that may be the reason why some folks did not like this book or gave bad reviews.

A signal in the noise, this book is for techies not crypto tourists.
FINALLY an actual book on Ethereum that get's down to it and doens't waste time explaining extremely basic concepts of blockchain, etc. This book is written for programmers/coders, etc., people who learn something by playing with it. I'm only about 20% in, but this book reads like a recipe cookbook (like the O'reiley series). Not for crypto tourists (the short-term trader speculators that are screwing up the market).

Needs an editor!
Took a chance on a cheaper block-chain book. While the information is okay the editing is poor (see partial list below). I might overlook this in a non-programming book, but I’m hesitant to invest my time in working through coding examples from an author that isn’t paying attention to detail. I went to the errata web address provided in the book and found only one typo. This suggests that Packt Publishing isn’t too concerned with the quality of their books.

I like this book
I like this book. I hadn’t programmed in 20 years, and I am learning enough to at least start making progress on my idea for a distributed app/smart contracts. It’s not a perfect book, but so far the flaws are bearable - e.g., calling almost every function “sample.”

Looking for a tutorial to learn Ethereum? This isn't it! The book is a muddled mess of topics that might best be described as a dictionary of terms pasted together in an incomprehensible stream of consciousness.

Very poorly written but with good info if you have the patience
I don't recommend this book, it is written very poorly in terms of actually communicating. There are some good bits of information but you have to be patient and diligent to get them. Basically it's like every other book written by engineers with no writing skills, a tedious slog that's like pulling teeth. Remember the worst textbook you had in college that managed to make an interesting topic both boring and more difficult than needed? Yeah, it's like that.

Excllent Book, but hot for beginners
Initially I taught this book is a big waste of money as it does not cover minute concepts in details. To read this book one has to be aware of all the low level details of Bitcoin at least. Otherwise this book will be difficult to understand. If you have knowledge of bitcoin this book is a gem. It touches upon all the Ethereum topics and provide short and crisp description. Excellent book for front end developers. However it expects you to know the concepts of MEAN stack development. Also there are not many books in Market on Ethereum so we can ignore small typo etc for overall concepts covered.
