A Gentle, Herbal Boost for Digestive and Respiratory Health
If your furry friend deals with digestive hiccups or occasional respiratory issues, Animal Essentials Slippery Elm might be the natural remedy you’ve been searching for. This liquid extract is formulated with certified organic herbs and is designed to offer gentle support for pets who need a little help in the tummy department or who might be dealing with mild coughs or respiratory discomfort. Whether you have a dog or a cat, this herbal formula is made to be safe, all-natural, and easy to administer. Key Benefits and Usage Slippery elm has been used for years to soothe irritated stomachs and bowels. In liquid form, it becomes a convenient solution that you can drop into your pet’s food or directly into their mouth, depending on their comfort level. The herb is known for forming a protective, soothing layer in the digestive tract, which can help with everything from minor indigestion to supporting overall bowel function. It also has properties that may be beneficial for respiratory health, which is a plus for pets who experience mild cough or irritation. Pros 1. Certified Organic Herbs: The formula uses only natural, organic ingredients that are gentle on your pet’s system. It’s a reassuring choice if you prefer to avoid synthetic chemicals and additives. 2. Supports Digestion and Bowel Function: Many pet owners notice improvements in their pet’s regularity and overall comfort after adding slippery elm to their routine. 3. Easy to Administer: The liquid extract can be mixed with food or given on its own. Dogs and cats often tolerate it well, especially if you slowly introduce it. 4. Helps with Respiratory Health: While primarily known for digestive benefits, slippery elm also has soothing qualities that may ease mild coughing or throat irritation. 5. All Natural: If you like to stick to holistic or herbal remedies, this product fits right into that approach. It feels good knowing exactly what’s in the bottle. Cons (Realistic, but Not Negative) 1. Taste Sensitivity: Some picky pets might detect the herbal flavor and shy away from it. It helps to gradually introduce the liquid to their diet so they get used to the taste. 2. Not a Cure-All: Though it can provide supportive relief, it may not resolve more serious digestive or respiratory conditions. You should always consult your veterinarian for persistent issues. 3. Requires Consistency: Like many herbal products, you’ll want to use it regularly for best results. An occasional dose might not be as helpful, so be prepared to make it part of your pet’s daily routine. Who Would Benefit • Pet owners seeking a natural approach to mild digestive discomfort or occasional respiratory issues. • Cats or dogs that could use an extra boost in maintaining regular, comfortable bowel movements. • Anyone looking for an easy-to-use supplement that avoids synthetic ingredients. Bottom Line Animal Essentials Slippery Elm is a gentle, easy-to-administer herbal formula that can help promote healthier digestion and offer supportive relief for mild respiratory troubles in dogs and cats. It is made with certified organic herbs and has an all-natural profile, making it a solid choice for pet parents wanting a holistic option. While it’s not intended to replace professional veterinary care, it can serve as a valuable supplement for your pet’s daily health routine. If you’re seeking a natural, plant-based product to help keep your furry companion’s digestion and throat in top shape, this is well worth considering.

Must have for dog owners
Always have on hand for my dogs. Helps speed up recovery with digestive upset and respiratory illness. I use it weekly for regular maintenance support. My dogs will take it mixed in their food but if they have an upset stomach I can easily squirt in their mouth. Only complaint is the markings on the dropper are impossible to see

Megaesophagus pup with GERD gets relief!
My foster Shepherd has a mild case of Megaesophagus but horrible GERD. (common with this condition.I researched to find Slippery Elm is very helpful. I tried this and he loves it so much, when he sees me coming with it, he just laps it right in his mouth as I squirt it little by little. He's getting relief and I'm happy. I give it to him twice daily before his meals.

My cat has CKD, this has truly helped her nausea/vomiting and loose stools!
Of course with any new product, keep an eye on your pet when giving something new. I am in a CKD facebook group and had heard of slippery elm and did some reading up on it. I have used this for almost a month now and my cat has only thrown up once. She has IBD along her with recently diagnosed CKD about a year ago. I wanted to see if this would help with her getting sick, and so far it has been amazing. I mix it once in the morning with her Weruva low phos wet treats and a little water, and again in the evening with her CKD wet food. She took to it right away and I am grateful this product exists to help her!

I swear by slippery elm for cats.
We’re still not positive what’s happening with my senior cat. Maybe it’s IBD or it could be lymphoma. At his age, temperament & condition, I’m not willing to have a biopsy done. Alas, I can tell you he has something nasty happening with his stomach. While we’ve been pumping him up with antibiotics and steroids, he seemed a bit nauseous. Lip smacking and licking in cats is usually the giveaway. A nauseas cat can’t eat, so this helps his appetite get back to normal while it coats his stomach. This definitely works for his nausea! It also worked when he got a bit constipated from all the meds. If you have a cat with a troubled stomach from nausea to diarrhea, this is really worth a shot. Make sure to time it two hours before or after their medicine and vitamins, because slippery elm can get in the way of absorption. I give it directly in the mouth by syringe, but he doesn’t seem to taste it if I put it in food. The size is a great price & it’s been effective for us.

Made my dog nauseous.
Made my dog nauseous. He initially seemed to accept it on top of his food, but ultimately refused to eat it and started having foamy white vomit. I’ve known from dealing with his issues in the past that this is a symptom of nausea.
