amazon basics 2-in-1 Type C USB hub 3.1 to HDMI 4K/VGA Adapter Cable for Mac, Compatible Samsung Galaxy S9/S10/Note 8/Note 9 (Grey)

I've always been a fan of AmazonBasics products, so I ordered this. It's an amazing product if you have too many devices and USBs to sort out. It's small and portable, so you can easily carry it in your laptop bag. It also has a premium build. The best part is the Type-C inlet, so it doesn't block any of your laptop's USB space.

I was looking for a nice USB 3.0 hub, and based on my previous experiences with Amazon Basics, this seemed like a good buy. Most other hubs have only 1 port as USB 3 and the remaining are USB 2. However this product has ALL four ports as USB 3.0 The 3 ports, adjacent to each other, along the side are absolutely fine and work perfectly. However the fourth one (on the smaller edge) is too tight. I have tried two different USB receivers and one external hard disk ... NONE of them are able to fit into this port. I gave up rather than risk damaging the devices. And all of these devices fit easily into any of the remaining three ports. So essentially - you are getting a hub with 3 ports ... not 4. If that meets your requirements then it's a great buy. The transfer speeds are much better than my previous USB 2.0 hub, and it's even charging my iPad when connected. Cord length is around 5 inches or so, which is fine for those like me who don't want messy wires on the desk.

I use it with MB Air M1 and works fine for my needs, but there are certain lags occasionally on certain ports on the dongle

i connected two portable HDD and tried to transfer data from one HDD to another and it did not work. the transfer speed is in kbps and after few second it stuck copying. But if you want to connect two or more portable HDD "just to Read data" then its value for money product. Build Quality is also Good. But Cable is very short. and its very hard to find a type c extension cable. very costly compared to normal USB extension cable.

Using for last several and works very well

After using the product for 6 months. I can say that it works ok. But not great. All the ports are USB3.0 and givea you 5gbps speeds as per standards, BUT copying from one device to another connected to same hub some times breaks the connection and all your devices disconnected and thunderbolt port stops working. I have to restart my ASUS pc so that my thunderbolt 3 port starts working again.

Satisfying Product. No lag or decreased speed when using all ports. I am delighted to use this. Metal case, cable, and Ports are very high quality.

USB C port can be used only for PD Charging and not for data transfer. HDMI port and USB A type port works appropriately.
