PAC-MAN World Re-PAC - PlayStation 5

The first time I played Pac-Man World was on the PlayStation, back then it became of one of my favorite adventure and platformer games, this remake does a good job bringing this classic into the modern era of gaming. So let's dive into the pros about the game, the game itself is improved with new graphics and music as well as being changed up from the original by adding new mechanics and other goodies to the gameplay while retaining all the original charm and nostalgia, playing through all of the levels again on this adventure is a lot of fun from getting all the collectibles to doing the bonus stages and taking on the bosses, it's just as you remember it if you've played the original. The Maze mode is also super fun content, my favorite part of it was the maze marathon, when you beat the game you also unlock the original Pac-Man arcade machine which a lot of fun to play again. So let's talk about my personal cons with the game, the new movies are okay, personally I wish they wouldn't have added the voice acting and that's really the only bad thing I can say about this remake. Overall I really enjoyed this remake and can't recommend it enough, it's an enjoyable experience for old fans and first timers, for a final personal score I'd give it a 9.5/10. So do I recommend it? Yes if you liked the original game from PlayStation or if you are a Pac-Man fan in general, it won't disappoint!

My son loves his game.

The gameplay remains true to its roots, combining classic platforming with PAC-MAN's signature mechanics, such as eating pellets and using power-ups. The level design is varied and engaging, with plenty of secrets to uncover and puzzles to solve. New gameplay elements, such as enhanced abilities and fluid controls, make traversing the levels more enjoyable, allowing for a smooth blend of exploration and action. One of the standout features is the addition of new gameplay modes, including an expanded multiplayer experience that allows friends to join in on the fun. This encourages teamwork and adds a layer of replayability that was missing from the original.

This was on sale for ~$13 when I purchased it, so that factors into my review. Overall, the game looks ok (not great, but for a remake of a PS1 game, it's fine), and if you just want to play an old-school platformer for a bit, this scratches that itch. Fans of Pac-Man will enjoy this. That being said, it does have its issues. The level design is somewhat meh at best, and there are certain areas where, for whatever reason, it's difficult to judge where you are when making a jump. (The area with "Pac-Mom," who is *totally not* Ms. Pac-Man, comes to mind.) Collision detection also seems to be a bit off in places as well (the worst example was the final part of the final battle). For better or worse, this is a roughly twenty-five year-old mascot platformer. If you're a fan of Pac-Man, a fan of the genre, or just want to zone out and play an old-school platformer on a modern system, this is a good option, especially if it's on sale.
