There are a couple of places where they suggest you widen the holes with a drill. I'm not sure why they did not just make the holes big enough. You will definitely want to paint it before you put it together. After it's put together there are several pieces that would not be accessible. I did accidentally break off a couple of pegs. The pegs are fragile while the model is still apart. And occasionally two pieces are very stubborn about staying tightly closed. But it's nothing to complain about.
