Good working adapter

Finally found this rare and low-cost adapter to convert my dual voltage portable EV charger plug from 5-15 to 6-20, and take full advantage of it's 240V rated capability (something it should have come with by default given the plug is not interchangeable). It's thick, super well built. Literally helped me double the charging speed from ~1.5KW to ~3KW. Perfect for charging at night and get +50% charge the next day. Just make sure your charger/device supports dual voltage otherwise this adapter will be a fire hazard.

This is a method to use a 120 volt extension cord in a 220 volt environment. You need the equivalent opposite sex version at the other end also. One important factor to consider is the gauge of the wire. Most 220 volt equipment requires 12 gauge wire at the least so use a 12 gauge extension cord. I found it to be very useful but you need to pay attention to what you are doing. My guess is OSHA would have a heart attack.

What I Needed

Works great, bought it for a small hot water heater.

This cable sucks. Sure, it converts your 20A receptacle to a 15A, so you can plug normal appliances in... but don't bother using it with an air conditioner or any appliance that needs high peak wattage. It seems like in the conversion process, it's not allowing enough wattage to get to the appliance (even though there's more than enough power going to the original receptacle--after all, we're converting down, not up). It's not able to handle 1000 peak watts, even though a typical 15A household receptacle is more than capable of doing so. Makes no sense--can only be a defect of the cable itself. Waste of time & money.

Nice go between for car charger plug. Has the design for needed plug.

Cable quality looks good, it’s nice and chonky. This is the adapter you need if you have an L1 EV charger that will accept 240V and charge at 3.8 kW instead of 1.4 kW. Definitely not UL/CSA certified; use at your own risk.

Works as it should. No problems after a year of use so far.

Not cheaply made. Hopefully will last a long time.

I got my lvl1 charging cord with my equinox EV and it came with a 90 degree plug. Didn’t fit in my wall plug because of the protection box around it so I got this straight extension. 12 gauge, 12A and 150v about 4” length. Works like a charm
