What would be the minimum possible size of whole needed for the tap to go into the worktop

that information will be given with the kit but were talking about 1/2" or 3/4" you would not drill the hole until you have purchased the unit

Is the surface material really chrome? The photos are a bit unclear regarding the surface quality. Is it shiny chrome or a brushed finish?

It’s a chrome finish - it’s a nice tap. However be warned that the threaded portion is quite short and it’s not long enough to go through a 40mm worktop.

can I buy a replacement cartridge when the tap leaks and how much is it?

The tap is very well-made/robust and it shouldn't leak unless it is really, really old. Is it still under guarantee? Where exactly is the leak?
