I don't know why the Silverado didn't come with this filter from factory but with a couple videos on YouTube, this was a straight forward retrofit. And it's inexpensive. Fits well. Install is easy, longest part is cutting out the plastic plate. Doesn't do much about smell tho.

Item was good but you should let people know that there is no cabin air filter standard in the 2007 to 2014 Silverado 2500 HD among others. Most of these require you to cut open your airbox to install this there are YouTube videos on how to do it but this is a kit to add on a cabin air filter. And you can't do it on all of them you have to see if you have the cutout area that's been blocked off from the factory that you have to cut open some you can't. Watch the youtube videos before ordering. This is a nice filter to add to keep debris out of your air conditioning and heater units should have come with this from the factory but if you aren't capable of doing the modification then you should not buy it

On my '07 Chevy Suburban LTZ it didn't come with a cabin air filter but with this kit it was able to cut it out and put a filter in although when I cut out the factory plastic to be able to install the cabin air filter it was perfectly clean in there from '07-2023 so apparently it doesn't need a cabin air filter but I put one in anyway easy job. 1-16-26 Str8Tattedup

Some of the model years do NOT have a filter from the factory, in order to use a filter some modifications will need to be installed first , ( filter kit) is my understanding. My year model is a 2012 Denali XL. No place for a filter. Not a simple project. More clear description of this should be highlighted.

So far the product has been great. It seemed that a lot of people on the reviews did not realize this was a retrofit kit. Installation was fairly easy, using a sawzall to cut the opening. The area to cut is already molded so there’s no gas work and where your cuts need to be. The edges can be cleaned up with a razor blade. The hardest part was cleaning the evaporator while it was inside the vehicle. Achieve this using air nozzle with an extended end. You can see the before and after pictures. The filter is made to be bent to install into the opening, and then it recoils back to its original shape. Overall, this was a very good purchase. Installation and cleaning time was between 30 to 45 minutes.
