Review: As A DIY'er I Absolutely LOVE THIS BOOK....None Better On The Planet - WOW, is all I can say about this book. Reading it was like walking through a candy store as a youngster. I am an avid online reader of Wood Magazine, because it is an incredible resource of how to build and get things done more efficiently. I even started copying and pasting their tips and tricks, and jig building ideas into Word documents to create my own files on the computer, which are categorized into many quick and easy to find "how to" solutions. Whenever I want to do something on (for instance) my band saw, scroll saw, table saw, drill press, sanding belts, chop saw, etc, I go to the Word document labeled as such and search through all of the tips and tricks that I have cut and pasted from the Wood Magazine online tutorials. It has saved me from making many errors and allowed me to be much more efficient in my shop, as a DIY'er. I stumbled across this book at Menards and started thumbing through it, and was blown away by the value of all the tips and tricks contained herein. I resisted the temptation to purchase it right then and there, which was really hard, because I could not wait to read every page. So I went onto desertcart and bought it and received it in 2 days, as a Prime member. My wife and I were embarking on a 3 hour road trip the next day, so the timing was perfect, as she drove, I started on page one and scanned the entire book, front to back on the drive up and the drive back. Also had a pack of the tiny Post It notes to bookmark the pages which I would most likely use to build with, creating my own jigs and shortcuts explained in this book. The illustrations and pictures offer absolute clarity on how to do what it sets out to instruct you. The wisdom in this book, obviously comes from woodworkers who have a lifetime of experiences in using the best practices in woodworking and shop methods. This book sits on a resource shelf in my shop and I refer to it every time I am about to embark on a home fixit or remodeling project. And it invariably yields great morsels of wisdom which have helped me immensely. It achieves what would be unachievable without a "Woodworking Yoda" at your side. If I was forced to burn every "how to" book in my library, but one....this, hands down is the one I would never let go of." There is something in it for everyone, from novice to expert woodworker. Reading this book was more fun to me than watching the best movie ever released. But I guess that's what happens when something speaks to your soul, in things that you take great satisfaction and pleasure from accomplishing. It can make an expert out of you, when you have not yet arrived at that level. Review: Great book...the tips are not only useful but inspire other ideas... - Some people are taught woodworking by grandfathers, some take it in high school, others learn as an apprentice and then thereโs people like me. While I worked in construction, owned a large construction company, and truly love construction, there is a big difference in building a building and making a piece of furniture. But I have become fascinated by the process over the last 10 to 15 years. No mentor, just me and what I could read and do...oddly construction and woodworking are almost like trying to be good at tennis and racquetball, but I persist and when quarantine hit I picked this book up just to kill an afternoon. Some of the tips are obvious, some may extend beyond that which interest me, but others have led to many inspirational ideas and so I can safely say it was well worth the time. While somewhat envious of those who had a grandfather they shared this hobby with I have enjoyed learning and creating. The problem with construction is that unless you are paid for it, it might be the most expensive hobby ever and so there is only so much you can do - how many additions, decks, custom closets, etc can one really do around the house....but I can go to my shop and have hours of entertainment (interspersed with minutes of absolute indignation when I mess something up) and actually create something so individual and lasting that it has easily become a favored pastime. There are a few bad wood working books, a ton of mediocre books, and a few that are special. This book was special to me.

The content is thorough categorized, well written, and well organized. It's about as complete and well illustrated a book of hints , tips, tricks, & workarounds as I've seen in fifty five years of woodworking. Not a five 'cause it contained some contradictory information - poor editing. Hand & powered techniques all focus on common (or perhaps not so common) sense approaches without trying to sell expensive solutions for simple or one time problems.

Fabulous book - better than I hoped for
This book exceeded my expectations. I kept almost buying it and then deferred it because I feared it would be nothing more than things I could easily find on the web or things that I'd already seen in any number of other books. I was totally wrong. This is probably one of the most useful books on my shop shelf. The sheer number of useful tips is amazing, and I have found dozens and dozens of them applicable to my situation. They are neither overly simplistic nor insanely complicated. Some of them do take a significant amount of effort - but there is a wide-range. I'm very impressed. Don't hesitate to get this book. The only thing is it can be hard to find a great tip a second time because there are so many and no index. I'm searching the web to see if someone has published a searchable list of all the tips.

Great tips, great photos
Great overview of carpentry tools and techniques - the best parts of this book are the organization (tips and techniques are organized by activity/main technique) and the pictures (clear demonstrations of what is needed and how to do things). Definitely worth a spot in both your study and your shop - you'll want this on hand for more detailed reference as you're doing your projects

a great gift
I got this book as a birthday gift for a friend of mine who is serious about wood working. She had quite a bit of knowledge already and told me that the book is all encompassing and helped her to learn new tricks. Please note, I am not knowledgeable about the topic but selected the book based on its description. My friend was very happy and said that it's a great book. As for myself, I am happy that it is a substantial gift, not necessarily pricewise but contentwise. 5 stars, Gisela Hausmann author, reviewer and blogger

Great book of woodworking Tips
Libro scritto bene, molto sintetico ma efficace. Molte foto ben fatte. Forse qualche disegno per le realizzazioni piรน complicate sarebbe stato utile. Nel complesso da consigliare a principianti e non.
