I used two 1/2" O.D. x 3/8" I.D. spacers per bracket to secure to the wall. No notching is required and it is very stable. Place the bracket next to the 1/4 round and measure the distance from the back of the bracket to the wall. That will be the spacer length you need. They sell spacers in a number of lengths and diameters. Buy the spacer that works best for your application and measurements. I found these and they are perfect. Sturdy, comes with several adjustable roller options and included are soft roller cover to muffle noise.
